Lounging at The Blounge

13 November 2011

My Sunday was spent recuperating from an epic fun-filled 11.11.11 weekend, and I wanted to share them with you on a series of posts starting just.about.now.

After my shift ended last Friday I just changed my clothes, put on some makeup, then headed to Mother Ignacia Avenue for the grand opening of The Blounge.

Located just in front of the ELJ Tower of ABS-CBN, the new beauty lounge on the 2nd Floor of Hodge Podge Building promises a beauty experience like no other. The Blounge, a beauty lounge offering the latest trends in hairstyling, makeup and nail services, sets out to be a place to pause and de-stress from the daily demands of life.
Aside from the usual reading material fare, clients are offered an iPad to keep them busy while having their services done. With the fast wi-fi internet connection inside the salon, you can still be up-to-date with your work or social activities online. It's really modeled for today's fast-paced, always online lifestyle.
The Blounge is owned by ABS-CBN news anchor Anthony Taberna and his wife Rossel. They used to have a small salon in Panay Avenue but came up with a new concept and updated the business to keep up with the times. Ma'am Rossel also said this is a venue for her to practice her passion for makeup and to apply what she has learned as a graduate of the Makeup Design Academy.

Let me share with you some photos:

The curtains between the plush seats in the nail station ensure privacy when you need it.
They can also be pushed back if you're being given mani-pedi at the same time as your girl friends :)

I love how the interiors look so feminine without looking too frilly and fussy. Very posh and elegant, yes?

Here are some photos from the grand opening:

Politician and TV personality Shalani Soledad was there for the ribbon cutting and balloon-popping.

I couldn't miss on a photo op with these beautiful ladies :)
I also met Jamie who said she reads my blog :)
Hi Jamie! ♥
Aside from the buffet, I was also given a free pedicure with foot spa which, truth be told, I really needed that day :)

Nail tech Liezl who was very nice and gave me a verrry relaxing foot massage :)
You can tell on the photo how much I'm enjoying this ;D
I forgot to check out the name of this beautiful shade of blue, but it's from Lioele.
I picked the shade to provide contrast to my dress and look for the night since I went straight to the Smart X HTC Beats party after. Besides, I was already wearing a pretty powder blue shade in my fingernails :)

I had to leave early but I really enjoyed my stay. Ma'am Rossel and the stylists were all very nice and accommodating. Some of them even remembered me from another event before because they were also trained by hair genius Lourd Ramos which I thought was super cool!

I also met Bernadette Sembrano before I left. She's even prettier in person :)
Here are the rates of their services for reference (click to enlarge):

I love that it's just near my office so it's very easy to drop by for beauty emergencies. I already found my hairstylist-for-life but I will definitely go back for other services and hair treatments!

The Blounge is open everyday from 9AM to 9PM. It is located at the 2nd Floor of Hodge Podge Building, 139 Mother Ignacia St., Quezon City (directly in front of ABS-CBN ELJ Building). To find out more about The Blounge, visit their official website or Like them on Facebook.
