Getting my party on with SMART X HTC Beats

14 November 2011

I've been too lazy to attend events recently, but receiving invites from SMART and Connect Agencie always makes me excited. There were lots of things lined up for the 11.11.11 weekend, but I figured the best way to spend it is with good friends while getting our party on. Also, I hadn't gone out in a while so my body was starting to look for a shot of vodka-sprite (LOL, this coming from someone who didn't allow any type of alcoholic drink touch her lips until she reached 20 years old.) Big thanks to Carina of Connect for allowing me to take my friends with me to the SMART X HTC Beats party held in Republiq last Friday!

Honestly though, a little part of me wanted to just ditch the party and go home that night. Traffic was so bad, it was raining hard, and cabs were scarce. But I didn't really want to spend a once-in-a-century moment stuck in my apartment being boring, so together with my favorite girl friends Mich and Poly, I made the long journey from QC to Resorts World.

We arrived there at around 9PM, a few minutes after the mini program started. As compared to the previous parties SMART had, the program for HTC Beats was just short without any added frills or dougie contests. An electric guitarist and a ballet dancer performed after they raffled off two phones and threw another one to the audience, after which they showed a short video featuring the HTC Sensation phone with the audio powered by Beats by Dr. Dre, and that's it. The rest of the night was dedicated to music and dancing, and I had an honest-to-goodness super great time!

People aren't hearing all the music. Artist and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can't really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can't handle the bass. the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn't move you. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do." - Dr. Dre

Do you remember my friend Poly? I wrote about visiting her in the hospital back in July. Two feet of her small intestines had to be cut off because they got clamped together. She was on leave from work for two months and lost a lot of weight. She is undergoing chemotherapy now, not because of cancer, but just as a way of making sure any bad cells that might have remained are removed completely. This is her first night-out after bouncing back to good health and I am just so happy for her :)

Garri and Gabe also went with us.

It was also great to bump into a few familiar faces!

I met VJ Sanya Smith at the Philippine Fashion Ball and I just love how friendly she is ♥
Dewi and me with fellow blogger Krista who I met at the Accessorize event ♥
My friends and me with fellow blogger Mar
My blog-friend Mai and her officemate Lea :)
I looove her red-orange hair!
With Carina
As I said, all I wanted was to get my drink on...

and thanks to the open bar...
that's what I did! :D
I stopped after a couple of shots of vodka-sprite though as I had work the next day. Still, it gave me just the right buzz I needed! My dear friend Ed arrived a little before 11PM (he rendered overtime at the office for a BIG event the next day which I'll blog about next) so together with Dewi we went to Kopi Roti for a little bonding time while the rest of my friends continued partying.

Forever my sunshine and serenade-in-a-box ♥
A taste of Singapore through these yummy kaya toasts and coffee :)
And at 11:11PM of 11.11.11, I made a wish ♥

Thank you so much SMART, HTC and Connect for hosting this awesome party and for letting my friends be a part of it! I'm looking forward to more!
