Ballet Manila presents: Snow White

22 November 2017

One of my favorite books growing up was my Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (yes, the book title said Dwarfs and not Dwarves) storybook not necessarily because of the story but because it had paintings as accompanying illustrations in every page. I consider this book as one of my most prized possessions as a kid because I just loved looking at those illustrations. I'm so sad I lost it during the big fire that razed through our neighborhood back in 2001 because I don't think I'll be able to find another copy anywhere.

A quick Google search let me know that the book I had is a vintage Ladybird Book with the first edition dating back to 1969. I was stoked to see scanned photos of the paintings online!

Snow White discovers the dwarves' cottage after the Huntsman lets her escape
The Evil Stepmother disguises and offers Snow White an apple that she takes reluctantly
The Prince wakes Snow White up from her slumber
That was an unexpected walk down memory lane. I remembered it all over again because Ballet Manila is doing their own rendition of Snow White!

The idea of creating her own version of Snow White came to Ballet Manila’s CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde right after her full choreographic debut last year. Due to the success of Cinderella, what was once regarded simply as “The Next One” has now become a second full-fledged masterpiece from the Prima Ballerina herself—and it’s finally making its world premiere in the 22nd performance season, Flights of Fantasy. Apparently, last year’s full choreography work in Cinderella was just the warm up.

With the help of Ballet Master Osias Barroso, the dancers’ personalities, music arranged by Von de Guzman, costumes by Michael Miguel and set designs by Mio Infante, and of course, the company’s mastery of the Vaganova technique, Snow White promises to be a magical and fantastic show—all in all, a truly Ballet Manila production.

With Snow White, Lisa guarantees that each member of the audience will get their fill of pure magic, romance, and fantasy. The audience can only expect the highest quality of dancing as well from the country’s youngest yet strongest ballet company.

Lisa Macuja-Elizalde’s Snow White will make its world premiere on November 25, 2017 at 6:00PM at the Aliw Theater. There will be three other shows: November 26, (3:00PM), December 2 (6:00PM), and December 3 (3:00PM).

To learn more about Ballet Manila and their upcoming activities, you may visit their website or follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

#SleepGoals with Whisper Cottony X-Long Overnights

17 November 2017

Being a woman is hard enough without all the things we deal with. I feel like if only men knew what we go through on a monthly basis, then it will be easier for us all to get along. And that, folks, is how we will achieve world peace.

A few months ago I wrote about my myoma and how it affects me. My OB first prescribed a brand of birth control pills that made me break out and feel like the whole world is against me. It was definitely a struggle. Thankfully, the second brand she prescribed agreed with me a lot better: my skin cleared up and my mood swings lessened. I gained weight, though, and I experienced bleeding.

There is never an ideal scenario when unexpected bleeding is welcome. That is why, every little helps. I wear a liner every day and I make sure I am prepared in case I get more bleeding.

So I can be more confident to move freely, I depend on the Whisper Cottony Clean and Whisper Cottony X-Long Overnights.
With their built-in blue anti-leak channels and soft cottony cover, you'll surely get protected from stains and skin irritation. But to give you a superb Whisper experience even as you sleep, here's Whisper Cottony X-Long Overnights that's made softer, longer, and wider to give you stain-free nights! It'll provide an all night all around leakage protection as it has 5x more absorbency than an average pad, so you can get your worry-free and comfy #SleepGoals at night!
It has now become a permanent fixture in my everyday life.

Dollireum

14 November 2017

I love how this extra long weekend is giving me all the time I need to catch up on much needed zzz's, new comic books, and other hobbies and curiosities.

Dolls, mostly.

For the uninitiated or those who might be visiting my blog for the first time, hello *waves* I am Krissy, and I'm a 31 year old woman who loves dolls. I used to have a lot of them when I was a kid (my last count was 26 Barbies), but tragedy befell them when a big fire razed through our neighborhood back in 2001. I didn't have the luxury to get new dolls when there were more important things to allot money to, and when I finally did, I just didn't have the heart, energy, nor space to start buying them again. My only doll was a Fashion Fever Barbie that I got from Singapore back in 2005. It lay unopened until yesterday, when I got its clothes because the fingers have deteriorated through time.

It's my boyfriend who's also a toy collector who inspired me to collect dolls again, and now here we are.

These are the dolls I acquired since August. Heh.

Watching Ever After High on Netflix opened a completely new world for me. I watched reviews, joined Facebook groups, oooh-ed and aaah-ed at people's expansive collections, then regretted that I only recently discovered these beautiful dolls. Madeline Hatter is my favorite character, and I was so inspired that I even made an Instagram account (@madelinexhatter) under her name! You can read the story here. However, since my humble collection now includes dolls from other lines as well, I decided to reboot this Instagram account and make it more inclusive.

Comics, steaks, and toys

13 November 2017

Expectation: Wait until I've finished reading all the books in my unread pile before purchasing new ones.

Reality: Troop to Bayanihan Center (on a Saturday with hellish traffic due to ASEAN, no less) for Komikon 2017 to buy new comic books.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The spirit is willing but the body is weak, so last Saturday J and I experienced our first Komikon. I have frequented toy conventions, Free Comic Book Days, and various extensions of Komiket but it was actually my first time to attend Komikon, and I was overwhelmed! Overwhelmed in a good way, because of the amount of talent and passion our local artists have as well as the support the two-day event enjoyed despite the aforementioned horrible state of traffic. There were a lot of sponsors and attendees so I'm pretty sure the future of the local comics scene is in pretty good shape.

As expected, the line for Manix Abrera's autograph was impossibly long. Because it was already late in the afternoon when J and I decided to go, I didn't get a slot for his autograph anymore. We still had a great time, though! Our wallets are not happy but hey, look at the stuff we scored!

J got a rare hardback copy of Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again and trade paperback of Harbinger: Children of the Eighth Day. I used to have a copy of this as well as issues 1-5 but I gave them away in high school after multiple rereads. Meanwhile, I got Arnold Arre's After Eden, Manix Abrera's Kikomachine Komix #13, Toto Madayag's P*cha, E Di Komiks Pa Rin Vol. 2 and prints, Dean Francis Alfar and Sage Alfar's Stars in Jars, Hulyen stickers for my friend Hannah, and Le Petit Prince postcards. Summit Books also sent me a copy of Ethan Chua and Scott Lee Chua's Doorkeeper to review so I'm pretty excited to delve into it. Also in the photo is the DC Bombshells Batgirl toy figure which was my gift for J because we celebrated our 29th month together yesterday. ♡

Maybelline x Gigi Hadid Collection

10 November 2017

Friends, prepare your wallets. The Maybelline x Gigi Hadid Collection is coming to the Philippines and I guarantee these will fly off the shelves! I'm getting palpitations from the packaging alone!

Gigi Hadid is more than a muse. She is a creator and the driving force behind this revolutionary collection. From her home base in NYC, to her hometown in LA, the design and details of these three Maybelline makeup collections personally reveal the story of Gigi Hadid’s life as she sees it, one shade name at a time.
I have yet to see the products in person as they are dropping in select Maybelline stores come next week, but because I'm part of Maybelline Squad I got insider info, photos, and prices and I'm sharing them with you! I think this is my most picture-heavy post yet!

Eureka!

09 November 2017

Work was extra stressful today. It was raining hard also, so as expected traffic was horrible. Social media is rife with angst and sometimes I just want to look away but it's part of my job to be updated so I have no choice but to scroll, scroll, scroll.

A lot of things are going wrong. But, today, I tried caramel apples for the first time.

THESE ARE S'MORES CARAMEL APPLES FROM ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHOCOLATE FACTORY AND THEY ARE GLORIOUS

Every thing was right with the world again.

I'm thankful also for shared laughter with my officemates Jean, Mich, Hannah, Levon, Sasha, JR, and Joel today. They warm my heart and tickle my insides. ♥

Dolled Up for the Holidays with the Barbie Loves Plains & Prints collection

07 November 2017

Flushed cheeks, racing heartbeat, and giddiness all over --- these were my body's immediate reactions when I first heard about this collection a couple of months ago. I couldn't wait to tell my friends but we were sworn to secrecy, and keeping secrets is difficult for me especially when it comes to news as exciting as this! Finally, after waiting for so long, the Barbie Loves Plains & Prints collection officially hits all Plains & Prints stores nationwide today!

My Barbie walking on sunshine in her Teenage Fashion dress
Ever since her debut 58 years ago, she continues to inspire many women around the world to be everything they want to be. She’s career-oriented, fashionable, and never goes out of style. Her influence is ever-evolving and continues to be relevant from generation to generation.
This international fashion icon is none other than Barbie and her timeless elegance truly mirrors what Plains & Prints is all about.
Anyone who would dare listen as well as people within a ten-mile radius knows how obsessed I am with Barbie. I started collecting dolls again recently (blame my boyfriend) so you might understand why I am particularly excited for this. We did an event with Plains & Prints to celebrate this launch and everything was absolutely pink-tastic. Only the best for this fashion icon, indeed!

Reviews: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer and Magnum Big Shot Mascara

06 November 2017

I try so hard to get enough sleep every night but between all the books I want to read, all the TV shows and movies I want to see, and all the other things I want to do, time is never enough.

Dark eyes never used to be a problem for me no matter how late in the night (or early in the morning) I stay up, until about two months ago. I looked in the mirror and there they were: two dark bags staring back at me. @_@ How could this have happened? They manifested themselves more clearly last week, after indulging in a Starbucks Grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew resulted to myself finally drifting off to la la land at 3 AM.

Maybelline's Brighter Days Ahead gift couldn't have come at a better time.

This kit contained an Instant Age Rewind Concealer, a Magnum Big Shot Mascara, and a sassy eye mask perfect for slumber parties, attracting sweet dreams, or when I just want to be fancy.

Here's a quick review of the Instant Age Rewind Concealer and Magnum Big Shot Mascara. ♥

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."

31 October 2017

Happy Halloween! What have you been up to?

This month was probably the busiest month I've had this year, made worse with a bout with the flu. I barely noticed the days flying by, and now it's almost Christmas again!

BEYOND Vol. 2

24 October 2017

Back in June I hinted at working on a project with three of the best names in the local comic scene:

Me and my short hair with Hulyen, Rian Gonzales, and Mika Bacani after our first meeting in Le Petit Soufflé in SM Megamall
Four months later, and look at them now:

HulyenMika Bacani, and Rian Gonzales holding their variant covers of BEYOND Vol. 2!
In a bid to celebrate creativity and innovation through modern technology, Apple Premium Reseller Beyond the Box compiled these artists’ original works in the second volume of BEYOND, a comic book compilation drawn entirely using the Apple Pencil and the iPad Pro. You may remember the first volume that featured Mervin Malonzo, Harvey Tolibao, and my idol Manix Abrera last year.  It's amazing that Beyond the Box did it again this year, this time featuring female artists.

They were given three things: an Apple Pencil, an iPad Pro, and the keyword "beyond" and they ran with it fiercely and assuredly. Mastering their new tools and the tight deadline proved to be a challenge, but they did not disappoint!

I love that they were able to showcase their own take on the theme using their respective art styles.

In my five years in this industry, this is definitely one of the projects I am proudest to have been a part of!

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder

23 October 2017

It's pink, it comes from the Beauty Wonderland that is Korea straight to your doorstep in 10 to 15 days, and it can drive everyone into a beauty frenzy --- it's Althea! Now that they have developed their very own product range, I am all for it!

The first product they came up with is the Althea Petal Velvet Powder, and I'm sharing with you my review!

Althea's very own product range is here, and we're starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Powder! This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free!
If, like me, you experienced dusting baby powder on your face growing up, then using loose powder like this will bring those memories back, except this one is a more "grownup" version. Being their first product, I admit I didn't have high expectations especially as I already love my Ellana Sheer Velvet Powder Primer and Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder which serve the same purpose, but of course I was willing to try this one and see if it works well.

The new Scribe at Glorietta 4

11 October 2017

Scribe is one of those stores I can spend a long time in just ooh-ing and aah-ing at the stuff available for sale, pestering the sales assistants with endless questions about this and that, and taking a mental note of everything I wanted to add to my insatiable wish list. I was saddened when their Glorietta 5 store closed and got really excited when I got the invite to their Glorietta 4 store opening!

And it's a lot bigger with more merchandise to ooh and aah at!

The new look of Scribe and its owner Marian Ong
What immediately struck me with the new store is its updated look, starting with the logo. They ditched their longer name Scribe Writing Essentials and stuck with just Scribe and gave it a more modern, sans serif branding but still retaining its identity with the nib serving as the "i" on the logo. The interiors also have a more industrial and open feel to it, giving it a fresher and a more inviting vibe. Marian told me they're also planning to update the look of the other stores soon so watch out for that in the Scribe stores near you!

I thoroughly enjoyed tinkering with the products on display and I'd like to share some of the things I saw that might be of interest to you.

My Digital Walker Madness Sale Haul

09 October 2017

J and I managed to catch the last day of the Digital Walker Madness Sale at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 3 yesterday and snagged a LOT of deals! Christmas came early, indeed!

It was my first time to go to one of these and ohmygollygoodness everything was at 70% to 90% off!

There was still a long line outside when we got there but it being the last day already it was not as crowded inside and we didn't have to wait in line that long to pay as compared to the previous days. But then a lot of the premium items were sold out already so I guess if you really plan to hoard and shop it still pays to be there early.

Still, we are very pleased with our loot!

ComicCon Asia 2018: Tourism, Entertainment, and Homegrown Talents

02 October 2017

The year's not over yet, yet I'm already looking forward to March 2018! It's because ComicCon Asia, a newly-formed regional convention that aims to go beyond your average fan experience, is slated to happen on March 24 and 25, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center.

I took J to the Bloggers' Night hosted by the organizers of ComicCon Asia last week and we were given a brief introduction on how the event was conceptualized as well as a short teaser on the attractions that will be offered for us fans during this two-day shindig.

Backed by the combined expertise of PSL and Nam Entertainment Group, ComicCon Asia is being spearheaded by Event Producer Pauline Sofia Laping, Business Development Consultant and StartUp Village Founder Jay Bernardo, and Program Director/ multi-awarded writer and cartoonist/ Filipino creative advocate Hugo "Boboy" Yonzon.

When asked why they felt they needed to create another event seeing as how our country has been enjoying a lot of other conventions lately, they answered it is for tourism, entertainment, and to showcase homegrown talents. According to them, ComicCon Asia was "created as an event to showcase Filipino, and Asian, talent, and apart from international and regional celebrity guests, there will be plenty of industry panels. It is not just a meet-and-greet with famous actors and actresses, it is also a proper industry con where one can learn from the people behind the scenes: the artists, creators, and producers."

Review: Happy Skin ♡ Sanrio Liquid Matte Lippie Set in Twinkle Twinkle and Star Wand

26 September 2017

I am a strong, independent woman who is currently on a year-long lipstick shopping ban so imagine my glee when my boyfriend offered to get this for me during the pre-selling period as a gift for our 27th month together.

How could I say no? I simply didn't have the heart. Heh.

Happy Skin ♡ Sanrio Little Twin Stars Liquid Matte Lippie Set in Twinkle Twinkle and Star Wand
I'm so thankful he got it for me when he did because of all the Happy Skin ♡ Sanrio collection, this set is the first one to run out. That was fast!

Gift Gate was one of my favorite haunts with my Mom and even though Hello Kitty and Keroppi are the more popular characters, I always gravitate towards the Little Twin Stars shelves because I feel a particular kinship with Kiki and Lala. My very first diary was a Little Twin Stars diary with padlock and key from my Aunt Jean, and it was one of my most treasured possessions.

Pretty packaging and nostalgia aside, it's not difficult for me to like these because I'm a big fan of Happy Skin in general. I have a lot of their Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies in my stash already. As for the Liquid Matte Lippie, I have one from the Glam Squad collection, specifically the shade they collaborated with Mickey See with. It's what I wore to a friend's wedding and it really delivered! My lips stayed pigmented and it stayed put on my lips with very minimal transferring and no bleeding. I also liked its matte finish that didn't dry my lips at all! Color me impressed.

As expected, these liquid lippies are A+++! Also, how cute are those names?? UGHHH.

Read more to see the swatches!

Almost October

25 September 2017

Hello, friend. I am alive and well, but I have been either too busy or too lazy. There are so many posts I wanted to write before September crept in, but before I knew it the month is almost over.

I know no one's looking for an explanation, and I might disappear for days/ weeks again anyway, but here it is just the same: I'd really like to produce more fresh content for my blog but lack of time and motivation derails me. My original goal for putting up this blog is to share stories and document my days but somehow I feel it has been lost in a flurry of marketing initiatives and sponsored posts. Still, I intend to be authentic and be my true self in that I only write about things I genuinely care about and believe in.

And I believe in love

and being your own hero

{A little context for those who have no prior knowledge of Ever After High: Darling Charming is the daughter of King Charming and she is destined to be a damsel-in-distress, but instead she becomes a hero and ends up rescuing the other fairy tales}
and the confidence boost the perfect lipstick can bring

and finding beauty in the simplest of things.

I believe we're all mad here

but it doesn't matter anyway

When I can be mad with this guy. ♥

J brought me to a special date in Alice Tea Salon, a dessert-and-tea place in Pasig, and we even brought my doll Madeline Hatter and her pet dormouse Earl Grey with us. What a guy, this guy.

In other news, I'm now taking a different medication for my myoma and I am happy to report that I don't feel the same heavy feelings as I did with my previous meds. I believe in the strength of prayer and the power of healing, and I'm positive things will work out well.

Thank you for reading. My heart is full.

Lipstick-less days

30 August 2017

I am perky and enthusiastic, sometimes overly so. I am also very, very excitable. A lot of things excite me, but of all the things I get excited about, one of my favorites are lipsticks. I have strong opinions on colors, shade names, formulation, packaging, and finish, and I never go out without a swipe of it. I can't even leave the office during breaks without putting on lipstick first.

Lately though, I've been feeling too much in the dumps that I couldn't even muster enough energy to apply lipstick. When I let even *one* day go by without applying lipstick, you know there's something wrong. It's been days, friend.

It's weird because my relationship's going great, work's OK, all that jazz. I *should* be okay.

But I'm not.

I have terrible mood swings, and sometimes I burst into tears for no apparent reason, or when my mind suddenly conjures horrible thoughts.

It's difficult when I can't even pinpoint what's wrong because then I can't address it.

My guess is that it's an effect of the pills I'm taking for my myoma, but what can I do when my medicine that aims to heal me also affects me this way? Good thing I'm seeing my doctor on Saturday so I can bring this up.

Yesterday I decided I'll just ride it out until it passes. Or until a new lipstick shade sweeps me off my feet.

Helpful friends piped in and sent good wishes, which are deeply appreciated. I do hope it's just the weather and not an ominous sign of worse things to come.

My friend Nashe suggested I "put on a lippie I never considered, or haven't used in a while, and see if it helps get things moving". I tried that today with my Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick in Make Me Blush, and it was nice. I even did my brows and went the extra mile and put on shjimmery peach eye shadow on my lids.

I also used my lunch break to get a haircut.

I liked it. I didn't realize my head could feel this light again. I just need to get a blow-dryer to maintain its bounce and volume, but first I need to find the energy to shop for one and wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual to be able to squeeze it in my morning routine.

I miss being perky and enthusiastic.

Ballet Manila presents: Ibong Adarna

25 August 2017

When I was still studying, I had this habit of reading my school books immediately after my Mom buys them for me at enrollment. Even before the official school year rolls around, I have already finished reading all the stories in my Filipino, English, and Christian Living books.

One of the books I devoured was Ibong Adarna, which was required reading in our Filipino subject when I was in first year high school. This folk tale follows the journey of three mighty brothers—Pedro, Diego, and Juan, as they search for the magical bird whose voice possesses healing powers. There's drama, comedy, adventure, and of course, romance.

Imagine my delight when I found out that Ballet Manila is doing their own interpretation of Ibong Adarna!

For the past couple of decades, Ballet Manila has constantly made great leaps in classical dance. Now on its 22nd performance season, the company is again raising the bar as it prepares to just take off and soar.

With the title Flights of Fantasy, the upcoming season is opening with the world premiere of Ibong Adarna featuring the choreography of principal dancer Gerardo Francisco. The multi-awarded choreographer and gifted danseur is set to bring to life the magical kingdom of Berbanya at the Aliw Theater stage.

Meet Madeline Hatter

22 August 2017

It all started two Sundays ago. My boyfriend and I chanced upon Re-Ment miniature toys when we went to his toy haunts in Greenhills, and I waxed on and on about my toys when I was young — my play kitchen sets, my Barbie dolls, my miniature doll houses — every thing I lost when we lost our house to a big fire back in 2001. Jeremiah suggested we build my collection again, and to start with a Barbie doll.

We stayed far too long at the Barbie section at Toy Kingdom with me ooh-ing and aah-ing at everything I saw and him documenting my reactions, but I couldn't decide what to get. He suggested I get a Made to Move Barbie because it's fully articulated and I could play with different poses, but I was hesitant because I thought its clothes were too "simple". I finally yielded, but asked to take a look at the Disney Princess dolls first to look at Jasmine.

That's when I saw them.

In one seemingly forgotten corner of the store, the Ever After High dolls were just there, and it was like they were waiting just for me. I shrieked because, hello, how could I not? They were sons and daughters of fairy tale characters with beautiful hair and fabulous accessories?? They're perfect!

Apparently it's a show on Netflix that I added on my list a while ago but forgot about. We spent a longer time there because I just couldn't choose, until I finally decided on Kitty Cheshire (daughter of the Cheshire Cat) and Featherly (a Forest Pixie)!

Less than two weeks later, and here we are. I've already devoted a huge chunk of time watching the show, reading about these characters, visiting toy stores, and talking my boyfriend's ears off about them. If you haven't yet, I suggest that you watch the show because it's HEXCELLENT and SPELLTACULAR! It's funny without being corny/ cheesy and the characterization and dialogues are fantastical and wonderful!

I'm sad that I'm already at the last chapter of the series, and I'm crossing my fingers that Mattel produces more episodes. Until then, I've set my heart to collecting Madeline Hatter (middle name: Xylophone) dolls because she's my favorite forever after!

Notice my puffy eyes? I burst into tears after seeing all these beautiful Madeline Hatter dolls!
I love Maddie because she's kooky with a good heart. She and her lines are just so amusing that I found myself drawn to her character from the start! After weighing all my options and considering my budget, I ended up with this:

EXTRA TALL MADELINE HATTER!
I was so confused as to why she is the only one with an extra tall version, and I learned why in the Way Too Wonderland chapter.

Cheers to five years!

14 August 2017

Hello, friend. I hope you are well. ♥

Time flies. I celebrated my fifth anniversary with ARC Public Relations yesterday. For an industry that can be fickle, five years is a long time and is already a milestone. To commemmorate this occasion, I got a Pandora Globe Charm to symbolize how big my world has grown since I stepped out if my comfort zone and started anew.

Five years is a speck, really, in the grand scheme of things, but when I think of everything that has happened in this span of time I still get amazed. Five years in this company and I still learn something new every day. Of all the risks I took, this is by far the best.

In other news, we moved to a new office! I miss the open spaces, SM Aura, and cute doggos being walked by their humans in BGC but commuting to and from home is much easier and cheaper now.

The new office is more cramped than the previous one we had but I'm so thankful to be given my own work-space.

I AM VERY BUSY: My ban.do Agenda

31 July 2017

How? How could it be August tomorrow already? Before long Christmas songs will be blasting all over the city again, so we have to make sure we're taking the time to pause every once in a while.

Work is more forgiving now that there are more of us in the team. It's still a stressful industry, but I breathe more easily these days. Hah. My free times are dedicated to spending quality time with family, friends, my boyfriend and his family, and my hobbies: reading, watching movies, writing, and journalling.

My Le Petit Prince Weekly Diary/ Planner Moleskine has served me well but when I saw this particular ban.do Agenda, I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT. Yes, the intensity was real.

It has a matte laminated hard cover in PINK with holographic letters. How can I say no to that?? I couldn't, and I didn't, and now I have it. It's perfect. ♥
we’re gonna let you in on a little secret: the 2017–2018 ban.do agenda is not just your average planner. oh no! it’s also an art gallery, a cheerleader, a top secret document, a personal assistant, and a best friend. this one’s our classic agenda in i am very busy. it’s got handy year, month, and week views, tons of notes pages, color-coded tabs, stickers (a lot), cool art from our cool friends, weekend to-dos, compliments, a neat poster, and just so much more. it’s pretty much the agenda of your dreams. From ban.do's website
It's so pretty I'm heart eyes emoji! If this Agenda's any indication, the rest of 2017 and all of 2018 will be bright and bold and colorful for sure.

And look! Stickers! Two sheets of stickers are included, but because I'm me and I'm sticker-happy, I printed a bunch of planner printables and stickers using my Canon PIXMA E470!

Review: Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

30 July 2017

It's National Lipstick Day on my side of the globe but here I am reviewing mascara. LOL.

Ain't nobody got time for mascara if you're like me who wears glasses all the time but I apply it occasionally - when there's a special event or when I'm in the mood just because. The tube I reach out to the most is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I've liked it since the first time I got it last year, and I appreciate that Maybelline sent me a new tube to replenish my stash!

The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara promises buildable volume and length with each stroke, and I can attest that it makes good on that promise.

They say that aside from the formula of the mascara itself, its effectivity also depends on the brush. I'm not well-versed on the intricacies of mascara brushes, but Lash Sensational's is built with a unique and separating brush that opens up your lashes to reveal layers upon layers.

What I like about the Lash Sensational is that you can layer it on to build as much length and volume as you want to create a lash look fit for any occasion. No need for multiple mascaras that can only deliver either length or volume! Lash Sensational has it all! And the best part? You can say goodbye to clumpy lashes- zero mess, zero clumps guaranteed!

My Avon Panty Store Picks

25 July 2017

I love shopping for new underwear. At the risk of being TMI, I prefer matching my undies. There are several other factors to consider, like the material of my outerwear (gotta make sure there are no visible panty lines), occasion (cotton undies for casual days and long haul travels, dainty lace or microfiber for special events), and fit (because who likes wearing ill-fitted underwear, right?)

Underwear shopping can be a very daunting task for some, especially for girls who juggle multiple activities on a day-to-day basis. Going from one shop to another in a frenzy in search of panties for that body fitting dress I'm wearing to a special event happening in less than a week can get crazy, and spending hours looking for panties that I can wear all day long during the summer months or during workout sessions (not that they happen frequently, heh) can get daunting. So I'm thrilled to receive this gift from the Avon Panty Store!

As the no. 1 Intimate Apparel brand, Avon Fashions offers the widest variety of panty collections through the Avon Panty Store. From classic silhouettes made of 100% cotton to nude semi-seamless pieces and fun printed panties, Avon Fashions is making it easier for Filipinas to find all the intimate pieces they need in one place.

Looove these yummy prints and colors! ♥

The Penshoppe DNMLab DIY Bar is back!

One of my favorite events last year was the Penshoppe Denimlab DIY Bar where we had the chance to customize our Penshoppe Denims with paints and patches. This year, Penshoppe brought it back on a much BIGGER scale --- by adding more styling stations where you can have your Penshoppe Denims customized!

Dressed in a Penshoppe Denim Jumper and top for #PenshoppeDNMLabDIYBar!
From today until Wednesday, July 26, you can go to Glorietta Activity Center Palm Drive and purchase the freshest Penshoppe Denim drops and have them customized however which way you want!

You can start with a clean slate...

and let your imagination roam free while going through the different styling stations available!

You can distress your denims, or customize them with paint splatters, hand-drawn paintings by Archie Geotina, Mara Reyes, and KITA, silkscreen prints, studs, patches, or pins!

Althea Korea turns 2!

09 July 2017

Guess who's turning two.

There are a lot of online shops distributing Korean beauty and skincare products locally but I find myself browsing Althea Korea more often because it's more updated and the expansive range and variety plus huge discounts can't be beat! Since they ship from Korea straight to your delivery address, it's like bringing home a piece of Korea each time, heh. These, as well as the cool deals they regularly offer, are why I've remained a loyal and happy customer since I first ordered two years ago.

Now to celebrate their birthday this month, they're shipping awesome limited edition birthday boxes with every order, until supplies last!

Here's a closer look at how I decorated my Althea Korea cake box with the birthday DIY kit!

How do you like it? I am positively giddy because teal-pink is my favorite color combination! ♥

Now let's take a peek at what's inside!
