"I wish I could still wish it was over..."

17 April 2011

Last night was everything I imagined it to be, and more. Much, much more. Yes. Totally.

After a quick dinner at KFC, I went to Araneta Coliseum a little past 7PM with my friends Mich and Jonas  and headed straight to our seats in the Upper Box section.

We were seated right smack in the middle!
Seat E1 FTW!
We were lucky (and wise) to have bought our tickets back in February; there were a lot of people there who got tickets at the same price but had to settle with standing the rest of the night because there were no more seats available.

The place quickly filled up.
Look at that number of people!
There was an air of palpable excitement in the stadium; even my friends and I kept on fidgeting on our seats! I had to calm by nerves by playing with the apps on Jonas' iPod Touch ;D

All of us are big The Script fans, but Jonas is the BIGGEST!
He counted down the days ever since word came out that the band will hold a concert here, so cute :D
At exactly 8:30PM, the lights dimmed and the crowd drew a collective breath. It only took us all a few milliseconds to recover though, because the next thing you know, Araneta Coliseum was filled with loud, deafening screams!

IT WAS AMAZING! The Script was amazing! I don't know what other adjectives to use to describe what I felt last night and I know I sound redundant but please believe me when I say that last night is one of the most amazing and unforgettable nights for me, ever. I didn't know that they have such a large number of followers here, but it was great to hear the crowd singing along to every.single.song. I can just imagine how good it must have made Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, and Glen Power feel, hearing their songs being sung back to them ♥ Seeing all those glowsticks swaying to the music, aaah priceless! Danny described it best when he said, "I wish you guys can see the view from here, it's amazing." Ah Danny, YOU are amazing!

This "magical" thing made me feel like I was on the first row!
We got relatively good seats, but I'm thankful I bought this pair of binoculars. Sold by salesladies en route to the main dome at P60 a pop, it helped me see the band up close without relying on the videowalls mounted on the two far ends of the stadium! Danny was all kinds of adorable, dancing around the stage with so much energy, waving to the audience a lot, and even going down to the mosh pit, taking pictures with the people and even letting them sing on his mic! I also loved that they interacted with the audience and told us the stories behind some of the songs. They even took a Twitpic of us! Aaaah I loved it ♥

Forgive the low quality, here's a video I took of them performing The Man Who Can't Be Moved and the rest of us singing along:

You can clearly hear my voice exclaiming "I'm so happyyyy!" at 1:20 ;D

I really love their songs and the message behind them. You see, I identified with their songs when I went through some dark times last year. Remember this post? I am being completely honest when I say I enjoyed it more than Bruno Mars' concert. Also, I may be wrong but the crowd was more receptive to The Script than to Mr. Mars. Maybe it was because we had terrible seats then? Or maybe I'm just being biased. But really, the lights on stage, the AVPs playing on the backdrop while they're singing, the energy, the passion, there's nothing not to love! I've been a big fan ever since I heard The Man Who Can't Be Moved, and watching them perform it live, with me singing it WITH them and the thousands of people who were there last night? IT'S JUST FREAKIN' INDESCRIBABLE! My heart thumps loudly, just reliving the memories of last night. And I don't know if you are a fan of The Script or not, but even if you aren't, well I'm sure there is a band somewhere that you like. I know you'll agree with me on these things if the same happens to you,  yes?

It was more than an hour and a half of amazeballs singing these:
  • You Won't Feel A Thing
  • Talk You Down
  • We Cry
  • If You Ever Come Back
  • Before the Worst
  • If You See Kay
  • The End Where I Begin
  • Science & Faith
  • The Man Who Can't Be Moved
  • I'm Yours
  • Nothing
  • Dead Man Walking
  • Rusty Halo
  • (Encore performance) For The First Time
  • (Encore performance) Breakeven

Krissy loves The Script!

"There'll be a smile on my face and the kettle on, and it'll be just like you were never gone." Epic night is epic. Please come back to Manila really, really soon

*Post title is from their song If You Ever Come Back.
