Love and lip balms

05 July 2013

In love as in lip balms, finding The One can be quite tricky. There'll be a lot of hits and misses but don't fret, just charge it to experience. And maybe it's not really the best among the rest, but at least you know it is the best one for you.

Uh, are we still talking about lip balms here?

Of course we are.

I've been in relationships that were healthy and loving but lacked passion, and I've been in relationships that were full of passion but were neither loving nor healthy for me. Likewise, I've had a lot of misses in lip balms that were either too sticky, or didn't smell nor taste good, or didn't moisturize my lips at all, or gave me allergies! I don't want to think of how much money I've spent trying to find the perfect lip balm, and now they're just on my boudoir, unused and unloved. ಥ_ಥ

But what do I want from a lip balm? Simple. All I want is for it to moisturize my lips and prevent chapping. Plus points if it smells and tastes good. I also prefer lip balms that are in tubes, not in little jars or pots. Is that too much to ask?

I finally found the one by chance - it was in my loot bag from Beauty Bar during the BeautE shopping event.  That's what you call beautiful serendipity, folks. Now if only finding real love is as easy as walking through the beauty aisles, right?

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia
Care for your lips with beautiful, sheer color. Our new tinted balms give you a hint of color with a soft, sweet flavor and natural ingredients that moisturize and condition your lips. Available in six flirty shades – Hibiscus, Honeysuckle, Tiger Lily, Pink Blossom, Red Dahlia and Rose.
Ingredients
Each Burt's Bees Tinted Lip balm is housed in this cardboard container.
If you apply lip balm constantly, you might want to just leave the container at home. Less bulk in your purse, too. ;)

Red Dahlia is brick red that is almost brownish in color in the tube and gives a hint of color to the lips. This is perfect for those who like their lips moisturized without the "heavy" feel of lipstick. Also great for students. :) Best thing about it? It's 100% natural so it's very safe to use!

I've been using it ever since I got it and I really love it because it serves all the purposes a lip balm should serve without giving me allergies! I have to stress that out because there was a lip balm brand that made my lips look Angelina Jolie-sque before but without her hotness; sadly I couldn't match ze lips with a smoldering stare because it was really, really painful. Gross too, with all the chapping going on. Yikes. So glad that was over.

I also found that this lip balm acts as the perfect cushion for my lips since some lipstick shades of my new favorite drugstore brand are a little drying. I apply the balm a few moments before I apply my lipstick and voila, no more settling on my lips' fine lines.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balms cost P650 each and are available at Beauty Bar stores nationwide and online.

Come to think of it, I didn't really find it just by walking through beauty aisles. The hundreds of choices available at beauty stores could also be another metaphor for the different kinds of people we meet. We meet a lot, but only a few are really good for us. This lip balm found its way to me by chance, here's hoping that next time, it'll be true love. Hashtag cheese. Haha I hope you enjoyed this silly review. Have a great weekend, everyone! ♥

Disclosure: Product was given to me for free as part of a goodie bag but all opinions stated here are my own.
