Thoughtful Thoughts: Long Live

19 August 2012

Long live the walls we crashed through
While the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming, long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders, I'm not afraid

Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming, long live the look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders,
one day we will be remembered

I have so many songs I can use to describe the friendship I've had with the people I met in HSBC, but I guess this is the best among them all. Incidentally, this is also my favorite Taylor Swift song. I know some people may think it's odd that I go on and on about how much I miss them/ will miss them but if you just know how tight we've all been since day one, then you will understand.

On my last night there, I waited for my friends Mich, Marsha, and Ruther so we can all have dinner at Mr. Kabab together. It was Asther's birthday that day so she was on leave but she joined us as well. The dinner extended on to coffee at Figaro until 1AM, and before we knew it, it was 5 in the morning. Would you believe that we spent the whole night just talking about our past selves, present realities, and future plans? It's rare that you get to have friends you'd be willing to spend a sleepless night with like that just to hang out, even more so friends willing to do the same for you.

It's so heartwarming to receive texts and Facebook messages from them to bridge the distance and keep in touch. Do you know that I've already gotten two separate invites from two of my former teammates to be their child's godmother? To think one of them hasn't even been born yet. How lovely, and of course it is my pleasure to say yes. I'm touched that they want to further their relationships with me than just being friends in the office.

And you take a moment
Promise me this
That you'll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in

And force us into a goodbye
If you have children someday
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name

Tomorrow I will go there to process my clearance and to go to the party for employees that have been in the company for five years. I am glad that even though I am no longer with the company they will still acknowledge that and let me attend.

Cheers to life and friendship, and having a job we all love doing ♥ How are you? I hope life is treating you well.

  1. The older we get, the harder it is to make friends like those.  Hold on to them if you can, you're a great group.

  2. I love that song! <3

And I do feel the same way about my friends. We've known each other since we were in elementary, and not even time and distance can break the bonds we have. <3

How are you, Krissy? Long time no see talk! =)
