Log in loser, we're going shopping.

07 May 2012

Here's something that will make shopaholics simultaneously scream in delight and misery. Delight, because it makes shopping more fun and easy, and misery because it makes shopping more fun and easy LOL.

A partner site of Summit Media, TheMall.ph used to be part of StyleBible as its online shopping directory. But now, the site has been revamped as a shopping platform complete with added sprinkles to make shopping much more enjoyable.
Run by the same creative team that produces StyleBible.ph, TheMall gives you a fashionable take on online shopping, with its stylish selection of clothes, accessories, beauty and novelty items for women and kids. Its easy-to-use interface and comprehensive brand directory equips users with informed shopping decisions, so that browsers can become buyers. TheMall.ph houses all stores under one roof, making it the ultimate online shopping destination for all shopaholics.
Nikki, Isha, Janey and Mark of StyleBible and TheMall.ph invited us over to an intimate lunch at The Gallery in Richmonde Hotel, Eastwood a couple of weeks ago to present the revamped site, so here I am sharing it with you :)

The Search function makes looking for that perfect pair of salmon-colored flats easier because you can choose the category (Bags, Shoes, Accessories, etc.) and type the keywords, then voila! It already gives you a list of items within the category so you can choose which of them you like best. I should know because that's what I did to come up with the pieces I chose below ;)

Unlike other shopping sites, TheMall serves only as mediatrix between the seller and buyer. You are protected though, as TheMall screens all entrepreneurs first before letting them register and display their items on the site.

If you see something you like but can't buy yet either because of financial restraints or a mighty self-control (and if that's the case, then congratulations), you can add the items on your virtual closet, making viewing them again in the future much more convenient. My bookmarks folder in my computer is filled with great finds online I have yet to buy, so yeah, I love this feature too. All you have to do is register.

Here's a peek at the closet I made earlier:

And here's a closer look at the individual pieces:

So casual, so breezy, so summery. I love it.
LIPS. PURSE. LIPS. PURSE.
THIS PURSE SCREAMS KRISSY ALL OVER. I LOVE IT!!!
As my profile says, "Chandeliers, cheesecakes, and charm bracelets make me happy."
'Nuff said.
This is the first result when I tried to Search for "salmon" from the Shoes category.
The gold caps at the toe makes these flats look less casual, more dressy.
You know what else is great about TheMall.ph? It lets you create outfits by mixing and matching the pieces in your closet!

If you are familiar with Polyvore, yep, it's kinda like that, except better because the items are from local shores, meaning easier to get our paws onto ;) Here's my "finished outfit":

I named it Corals and Watermelons :)
I can totally rock this outfit.
Visit TheMall.ph today and see who's on the cover page!

Sarah of Fashion Eggplant!
Great mom and friend, fashion blogger and certified shopaholic ;)
Great news for everyone planning to overhaul their wardrobe and with cash to burn:

A Summer Flash Sale will be held between May 9 to 15, and I am hoping the Pucker Up purse will be part of the sale!
Happy shopping!

Plus points for you if you got the Mean Girls reference in the title!

Baby Gabriel

06 May 2012

I have written briefly before about how my Aunt Jean and Uncle Rico both work for Four Seasons Hotel in Qatar. My family has taken care of their son Jerico for the past six years - my parents treat him like their son, and my siblings and I treat him like he's our baby brother. Even though he's very young, he's aware of this set-up and chats regularly with his parents via Yahoo!Messenger or overseas phone calls. His parents get to visit the Philippines a whole month every year, and whenever they're here they make sure they catch up on parents-and-son bonding time.

On March 29, Aunt Jean and Uncle Rico is blessed with another baby :)

Meet Gabriel
Aunt Jean was actually supposed to return to Manila last February 25 so she can give birth here, but a couple of weeks before her flight, she suffered some complications. Because of this, her doctors thought it's best not to let her leave Qatar anymore and just give birth there instead. I could only imagine how tough it must have been for her not to have her mom (my grandma) and sister (my mom) around, but at least she had her husband with her.

And so, as we were having a celebratory dinner for my sister Kyla's graduation, we got a text from Uncle Rico saying that the baby has arrived, and we were doubly happy for these two wonderful occasions! :)

Gabriel at two weeks old

Gabriel at three weeks old
What a cutie! I just want to pinch those cheeks!!

The reason for this post? As I type this, Aunt Jean, Uncle Rico, and baby Gabriel are in a plane heading back to hot and humid Manila! Aunt Jean has quit her job so she can take care of both Jerico and Gabriel in their new house, while Uncle Rico took his annual vacation so he can go, too. That means Jerico won't be staying with us anymore and will live with his mom, while his dad will still continue to work in Qatar. I will really miss our little Eco, but he needs his parents.

Brace yourselves, up next is the cutest photo of all... photo was taken while this little munchkin was sleeping, I think he's dreaming about playing :)

All together now, awww ♥
He's barely a month old in this photo, but look at how big he is already!!
Hello baby Gabriel, I can't wait to finally meet you.

To my Anonymous commenter

04 May 2012

I reply to comments to my posts within the post itself - hence my installation of Intense Debate Disqus - but I thought a comment left from an Anonymous person on my most recent post deserves a post by itself. I actually tried to email him/ her with my response on the email address he/ she left on the required field but my message just bounced back. I'm publishing the exact comment here together with my response in the hopes that he/ she will get to read it.

Here's the comment:
I've been an avid follower of your blog and I'm just sad that you've turned this blog to a huge advertising space. I miss those personal posts that a lot of people could relate to and not because you are being invited to an event or getting freebies then you are obliged to blog about it. I miss the old krissyfied that I've been following for the past 4 years.
And here's my response on the email I tried to send:

Hello! Saw your email address in the Intense Debate commenting system, I really hope this is a valid email address.

First, I wanted to thank you for reading my blog. You said you've been reading my posts for the last 4 years, wow, that's very flattering, thank you :) I agree that to some extent, krissyfied.com has become a "huge advertising space". I don't want it to be the case really, but to be honest, nothing interesting has been happening with my life lately.. But I also got to write a lot of personal posts this April, I hope you got to read them ;) Modesty aside, I've realized that I write better when I'm writing personal posts, but I find that I can only write those personal posts when something has affected me quite deeply. You said you've been reading my posts for the last 4 years, so you've read my emo-charged posts before about my heartbreaks. I found it really difficult to deal with that tough time in my life and writing about it helped me cope. The only problem is, the guy I was writing about is in the same office as I am, and (even though I have already moved on) now that we're not talking I cringe every time I remember all of those whenever I see him (which is, uh, almost every day). I wanted to delete those posts at first but then I realized that no matter how much I regret it, everything I wrote before was honest, from the heart, and really described what I felt before.

Anyway I'm blabbering, sorry. I just wanted to say that even if my blog may look like a huge advertising space now, it doesn't necessarily mean that I write them just because of the free stuff I've been getting. Everything I have posted have all interested me. Truth is, I receive at least three emails a day asking for press releases to be posted in my blog, but I only post those that I am interested in, and those that I know my blog's audiences might like. And yeah, okay, some of them I've written as a personal favor to some friends. But as much as possible, I inject my "personal touch" in my posts about the events I've attended and I hope my "voice" still comes across. There are times I get lazy though (and you can find proof of that in my What's Up, [insert name of month] posts). Sometimes I worry about looking like a sell-out, but then again whenever I read my past entries I am reminded how fun this blogging world is, how many opportunities I've been exposed to that I wouldn't have experienced without a solid blogging history under my belt, and how many friends I've met through these new experiences. At the end of the day, I just want to share pretty little things and peace, love & lipgloss ♥

What I've been trying to achieve is a healthy balance between the two (personal posts and brand releases) and I'm sorry if you think I haven't been successful. Almost seven years into this blogging thing and I'm still trying to figure this out hehe. But really, thank you so much for leaving a comment and for reading my blog, I really appreciate it and I am encouraged more than ever to continue on honing my writing skills.

Thank you so much! Happy Friday! :)

Whoever you are, I hope you are reading this, and thank you for your comment :) To everyone else reading this, I would like to know your thoughts, please?

MYOH Fifty Firsts Promo: Summer in Slippers

03 May 2012

My Havaianas Saks Trish McEvoy enjoying Puerto Galera
My Havaianas Candies enjoying Tagaytay
Whether you prefer feeling the sand between your toes as you enjoy lounging by the beach or the grass beneath your feet as you take in the grassy outdoors, nothing's better as a sole-partner than the nifty and colorful flip-flops from Havaianas.

I've gone on countless out-of-town trips with my family and friends and one thing I never forget to tote in my luggage is a pair (or two) of my Havs. Durable, comfortable, and fun(!!!) to wear, they're the perfect companions in taking those long walks and making more memories ♥

My dream summer destination? Greece. There's just something about its history and culture that amazes me, and I can't wait to explore the different islands, take photos, buy souvenirs, and visit Parthenon. Someday, I'm going to visit Greece, and when I do I am definitely bringing my favorite Havaianas pair. Still can't decide which is my favorite among the different pairs I have, though... But I'll get to that, once I get a visa. And money, of course! ;p

Now here's something that will excite all of you Havaianas-lovers out there: the Make Your Own Havaianas 2012 happening on May 10 - 14 at the Rockwell Tent! This (always guaranteed to be a success) event is made even more special as Havaianas is celebrating its 50th year, hurray!
Let's look back at 50 years of style, fashion, and good memories. Since 1962, Havaianas has grown to become an icon of summer. Fifty years down the road, it still stands tall and strong as it brings the style, fun under the sun, and a venue for self-expression to the world. It's not a surprise then to see how well it has been received as it arrived to our sunny beaches. As the embodiment of casual ease and luxurious joy, this pioneer in the global flip- flops industry holds a special place in the hearts (and feet) of Filipinos.
Be sure to catch the live broadcast of the Make Your Own Havaianas Launch Night directed by Robby Carmona on May 8, 6PM, via Facebook or at MYOH's official website!
It's the ultimate celebration of self-expression as we all get to choose the strap, the footbed, and pins we want on our flip-flops! I can't wait! Will I see you there, fellow Havaianatico? :)

*This post is for the Fifty Firsts promo ♥

Appreciating April

Did April feel so looong for you the same way it felt to me? For a moment there it actually felt like my birthmonth was never going to end, but hey, I just wanted to make a quick monthly recap post before I completely welcome the merry month of May ;)

This month, I:

turned 26 • received a beautiful birthday bouquet • felt birthday love from all over the world • went to a spontaneous swimming party • got a wonderful surprise from my oldest and closest friends • walked barefoot around Greenbelt • watched The Cranberries in Manila and got disappointed they didn't play my favorite song • watched Titanic in 3D 15 years after it was first shown • witnessed two beautiful weddings and realized that true love still exists in this world of fastfood and smartphones • personalized a burger • celebrated my fifth year with HSBC • said goodbye to Picnik and said hello to PicMonkey • watched The Avengers and wished Iron Man is mine • reunited with my SYC 2004 co-delegates and laughed at our photos from seven years ago • watched Vertical Horizon's concert and felt more than satisfied that they played my favorite song

got a very pretty retro-style dress from Tomato as a birthday gift from Angel.
With me in the photo is Ana who also got the same dress, in blue :)
got a Mockingjay ring with a sweet note as a birthday gift from Anagon Collection
had a catching-up date with my friend Ed where we made our own annual ritual, a la the Trilogy episode of
How I Met Your Mother
got relieved from the summer heat via large servings of halo-halo from Razon's
as Mommy Arnz's treat to me and Mich
got Chocolate Truffle'd at Gelatissimo
got Chocate'd and Nuttela'd at (again) Gelatissimo
(those buy one-get one vouchers included with the cinema tickets in TriNoma are very indulgent heehee)
indulged my sweet tooth (yet again) at PenPen's Resto after the Vertical Horizon concert and got this
Leche Flan with Tsokolate. Delicioso!
saw a 2 for P399.75 deal at SM Department Store and got these two pairs of Solemate by Parisian flats
for me and my sister :)
got my shortest pixie cut yet
April was packed! Now I can't wait to see what May has in store for me ♥
