I love themed events because I enjoy conceptualizing my outfit and props as well as the long and meticulous process of sourcing each piece to make sure they match my vision.
When the Dolls Tattler Philippines (the doll community I belong to) announced a Disney-themed holiday event back in July, I thought of dressing up as Kida [from Atlantis] because I wanted to put my platinum wig I bought impulsively to use. I gave up after a month though because my love for sugary snacks forfeited my right to reveal my midriff. Heh. The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland rescued me.
TA-DA!
I sourced each piece individually and what's great about it is that they're not too costume-y and I can wear them separately on other occasions! The skirt came from my own closet and I just put a black 7-layer tulle skirt underneath to make it more billowy. I enjoyed putting everything together and I loved dressing up!
I made my own rabbit nose using watercolor paper, peach watercolor, and a black Sharpie. I also did my own makeup. The biggest challenge was making sure my wig stays in place because I have long and super thick hair but there's nothing that a ton of clear elastics, bobby pins, and two wig caps can't manage.
The party was held in Manila Ocean Park last night and it was indeed a star-studded affair! Everyone in the Disney world who's anyone was there.
Four lucky raffle winners went home with each of these four gorgeous dolls with hand-painted faces and hand-crafted dresses!
I grabbed this photo from the group's Facebook cover photo. See, everyone brought their A-game!
Everyone had nothing but praises to the group admins and moderators who organized the whole event; the venue provided the perfect backdrop for the guests and their dolls, the food was great, the program and event hosts Alan and Matt were never boring—everything was well-thought-out!
Aaand the gifts. Oh wow. The gifts were overflowing, thanks to the generosity of Miss Mary Rose who is the founder of the group!
And the raffle! Earlier that night I told my boyfriend I wish I win the Wonder Woman doll because I already have Hippolyta and Antiope. Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would take home something much better! I am not that lucky when it comes to raffle draws so I was very surprised that I won the Grand Prize!
I got an Integrity Toys doll, a The Industry™ Style Lab Tulabelle True™ Nude Doll.
She is so beautiful! My very first Integrity Toys doll. ♥
Fortunate to have a partner who indulges my hobbies and whims and goes all out in support. Hee. #blessed
I am not as active in the doll community as I would have liked because of all the many different things going on in my life, but I am very thankful for Dolls Tattler Philippines, the admins, its members, and the friends I gained through this group! Collectors supporting collectors. I love it.
Now I'm super excited to dig through my Barbie closet to look for clothes for my Tulabelle, but before that here's an outtake from last night:
I look like a mom running after her kid who's busy buzzing around the playground HAHA! Unboxed my 28-inch Madeline Hatter doll yesterday for this event and she really looked like my child.

I'm so happy I got to share this with J! We're lucky and thankful that he has a Disney-Marvel costume lying around as he was given free entrance to the event when one of the original attendees had to cancel at the last minute. :) By the way, if you're on the lookout for Spider-Man costumes, check out his shop Spandex Hero! |

Aside from the loot bag filled with tokens from Miss Mary Rose's travels around the world, everyone went home with his/ her own event doll ♡ |

This is the best hobby-related event I have attended so far. I am looking forward to going to more!
This blog post is three months too late—there was a moment there that I couldn't muster up enough interest to write, but here it is now, and I am glad to be back.
As you may know, I started collecting dolls again last year. With my boyfriend's help and the bustling doll collecting community here in the Philippines, I slowly but surely built my doll collection, and one of the highlights since I began is being invited to the office of Richprime Global, Inc.!
You are seeing just a portion of the Barbie collection of Miss Myrna Yao, founder of Richprime Global, Inc. here. These glass cabinets as well as Richprime's storage room gave me a peek to the most Barbie dolls I have seen in one day!
This visit wouldn't have been possible without Rue's kind invitation. We met at a Sample Room event years ago and it's so nice to cross paths with her again!
My boyfriend J accompanied me to the Richprime Global, Inc.'s office towards the latter part of March this year. I have been on bed rest for more than a month following my myomectomy and I was itching to go out of the house. It still wasn't easy for me to walk then but seeing all these Barbies in person energized me!
I was a given a peek at the newest Barbie dolls and play-sets released locally, some of which I either have already, or ended up purchasing after. No regrets. Hee.

You may remember J giving me my first Silkstone Barbie as a Christmas gift. I named her Barbara Kristy and she is as pretty as ever. She's a Classic Camel Coat Doll and you may get your own here. I also want the Classic Cocktail Dress Barbie and the new Elegant Rose Cocktail Dress Doll, and I dream to have the Bride Silkstone Barbie when I get married.
Thanks again for your very kind invitation, Rue! J and I had a great time perusing the rows and rows of shelves and adding more dolls to my never-ending wish list! So many other pop culture dolls I want to include in my collection! The Jennifer Lopez Barbie, the Tomb Raider Barbie, the Jurassic World 2 Barbies, and the iconic Day-to-Night Barbie! I also recently got the new Curvy and Tall dolls from the second wave of Barbie Made to Moves, and I want more so I can re-body some of my dolls.
And because Kids Company is generous to us kids and kids-at-heart, they gave me a code I can share with you so you can enjoy 15% off your regular-priced purchases from Kids Company (except Shopkins, Hatchimals, Happy Places, and Pikmi Pops) until the end of December 2018! Just enter KRISSYFIED upon checkout to enjoy this discount.
Thank you for reading, and tweet me or email me in case you were able to use my code successfully because I want to live vicariously through your toy purchases! ❤
In the almost three years that we have been together, I only just used to accompany my boyfriend to toy events. He's a big toy collector and he already has a lot of friends in the local toy collecting community. He'd join exhibits to showcase his collection and works (he custom-paints), and I'd be the doting girlfriend following him around toy conventions as he brings me to different booths and introduces me to his friends, all the while excitedly describing different brands and toy lines to me.
Last year, we attended the first ever National Swap Meet held in SM Aura. It was there that he encouraged me to start collecting dolls again, and so I bought my first Barbie doll in years and got introduced to the Dollvisoria Facebook group.
My life hasn't been the same since. For one, I am now the owner of 30+ dolls since I started.
I also got upgraded from being just a toy convention chaperone to having friends of my own in the toy collecting community! Niche: dolls.
Yesterday, we went to Day 2 of the second National Swap Meet held in Megatrade Hall 1.
I even had special guests with me.

His Facebook group won a slot at the toy exhibit but he didn't get to send some of his action figures for the display. Nevertheless, most of his other friends in the SICness PH group displayed their own toys.
Of course, I'm also glad to see these gorgeous dolls from the Southern Dollies group on display.
We couldn't splurge since I spent a lot on my birthday and our out-of-town trip recently, but we couldn't not go around the different selling tables and booths!
This booth in particular caught my eye because, HELLO, POLLY POCKETS!
I never thought I'd see any of these in person again so I was so thrilled!
Story time! Back in 2001 we lost our house to a big fire together with all of my toys, and one of my most bitter regrets is losing my Polly Pockets, mostly because the line has already been discontinued and vintage ones now cost a small fortune.
I really wanted to get this church that is exactly like the one I used to have but it doesn’t have the bride nor bridesmaid included, just the groom.
And so I got the Bay Window House Polly Pocket instead.

Me with Gena |
My heart hurt with so much envy over this collection!
After going around once, we went out to meet with my friends from the Dolls Tattler group. I wasn't able to take any photos of our dolls but the theme was Love Love Love, that's why Erin (shown in the photo above) was wearing this sweater.
It just feels so nice to meet people with similar interests. I know that I must be boring my friends when I talk about dolls because they're not interested, so I feel really great about belonging in this group, most members of which have already become my friends in real life.
After our doll-meet, we went back to Megatrade Hall 1 to walk around the National Swap Meet venue once more.
I know I said I couldn't spend, but meh, here are my loot!

We would've come back today, the last day of the event, if only we weren't really trying to cut back on expenses.
I'll be more prepared at the next one!
