When I grow up, I want to be Angelina Jolie

07 August 2010

... except for the part where she allegedly snatches someone else's husband though.

Angelina Jolie proved once again that when it comes to action movies, females can also kick some serious ass.

I saw Salt last Thursday at TriNoma with my good friend/ officemate Mich and just like in her previous action movies Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Wanted (which I LOVED), I spent about three quarters of the movie gawking at how she manages to look hot without even trying. And really, can you think of any other actress who could have played the part as seamlessly as she did?

And I just love how her name seems to just roll off your tongue. Angelina Jolie. It's almost impossible to say the first name without mentioning the last name as well. Angelina Jolie.

Look at those cheekbones!
Also, that piercing stare is so electrifying it can kill you.

The movie is pure 100 minutes of adrenalin rush. Never mind the clichéd (at times) dialogues. With a plot that can very well be a Dan Brown novel added with killer stunts, nail-biting chase scenes, suspense-inducing OST and powerhouse acting, Salt is undoubtedly one of the best movies I have seen this year so far.

I don't know why, but in the scenes where she's blond I kept on thinking of Jennifer Lopez LOL

Who is Salt? Evelyn Salt is a CIA agent accused to be a Russian sleeper agent. Is she or isn't she? I am not telling because I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet. :)

Seeing Angelina Jolie as Ev made me do some background research on sleeper agents or moles. It also raised other questions like, how does one become a CIA? A Secret Service Agent? Why do they wear black all the time? Why do countries have to send spies to another country, can't we all just get along? Are Angelina Jolie's cheekbones real or not? What happens to innocent passersby who get injured or killed when they were unfortunate enough to be in the way of a real-life fugitive eluding capture from the police? Does the White House really have a control room eight floors below where nuclear missiles can be activated at the request of the President?

My favorite scenes are whenever she shuffles away from the scene looking unaffected and trying not to draw any attention

I do not support violence and I just treated the movie as the form of escapism it was, but I am aware other people may not think the same. I just hope the movie does not glamourize spies and terrorists in any way (which I am sure is NOT the producers' and director's intention.)

Sorry but I couldn't resist :D

I want Angelina Jolie's cheekbones. I just love looking at them though, I don't think her cheekbones would suit me at all :D

Salt is directed by Philip Noyce and stars Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Images (except for the last one which was taken by Mich using my phone Aristotle) were from Google Image Search.

Hmm, maybe I should start a rating system for my movie reviews? I'll think of something!

Meanwhille I am leaving you with this question: if you can choose an actor or actress to play you in a movie of your life, who will you choose and why? :)
