Most girls had a date on yesterday's Valentine's Day. As I am unlike most girls, I had not just one, but FOUR dates. Now before you raise your eyebrows let me say that my four dates are my classmates from college - Ed, Myk, Karlo and JV. Coincidentally, they are the best four dates a single girl like me can ask for.
Why, you ask?

Because they're FABULOUS and are not afraid to show it. Just imagine walking through Greenbelt singing Katy Perry's Fireworks with as much gusto as you can muster. Uh, if ever you were in Greenbelt last night and you heard a guy belting it out much better than Mrs. Brand can, that was my friend Ed.
And then, imagine walking from Greenbelt to EDSA at 12 midnight singing Katy Perry's Fireworks with as much gusto as you can muster, only this time you change the lyrics with signs and establishment names around. Yup, those were my friends Ed, Myk and JV. And it was hella fun!

Because you won't be afraid to wolf down lots of food in front of them. We had a hearty late dinner at Yellow Cab because we wanted Italian food. Yumm.

Because it's fun to talk about a lot of mundane topics like fictional Miss Universe contestants. I just love talking and laughing with these guys. You should hear their stories some time, I promise you that you won't get bored!

Because people-watching while swapping stories over astronomically-priced coffee is a great way to burn off pizza and pasta calories. Well, not really, but c'mon, people-watching is FUN.
And I can list a hundred more reasons but I am kinda pressed for time right now because after this I will be running to our team building I ran out of photos to show for them, and good ol' Show and Tell is always good, so let me reserve them for another future post.
Anyhoo, I planned to just spend a low-key Valentine's Day yesterday watching a couple of movies I downloaded when I received Myk's invite. I still am not used to going to Greenbelt on my own but heck, life is for the living so I said yes. I wore a corporate-y attire since they would be coming from the office, and whaddayaknow, I loved that their outfits were coordinated LOL. I bought them cheesy heart-shaped pillows as a Vday gift which I'm glad they - especially Ed my Eddiebear - appreciated. ♥
When I got home I sent them an SMS that hopefully this time next year (and all the coming years) our hearts won't be lonely any more. But whatever the case may be, may we always find ways to celebrate LOVE every. single. day.
PS: I did receive an SMS that made my heart skip. Sweet, sweet day ♥

I spent the weekend feeling the cold breeze of Tagaytay with my friends Michelle and Jonas. We stayed at our friend Mitch's resthouse, Kampo Berde (The Green Camp). The last time we went there was two years ago and I was pleasantly surprised at the many developments in the place!
One anecdote in Pam Pastor's book Paper Cuts tells of how roughing it can make you realize how you've been taking the littlest things for granted. Whilst I can hardly say that my weekend away was "roughing it", I did make sure I limit the use of my mobile phone. Add to that the fact that I am a chronic email checker - but I did not check my email the whole weekend!
So yeah, it's good to be disconnected every once in a while
I am alive. I am happy. I am grateful.
*Special thanks to Michelle Villas and her family for their hospitality.
**Kampo Berde (The Green Camp) can also be rented as a venue for parties, weddings, teambuildings, and shoots. If you are interested just send me a message and I can hook you up with Mitch.

Spread the word ladies, we assure you that it's going to be fabulous!
Will we see you there? Come, say hi and shop! You know you want to ;)

I'm sure you have noticed the abrupt change in Manila's temperature this past week. Gone are the days of cardigans and scarves, enter the summer dresses and cotton shirts. That is why this weekend trip couldn't have come at a better time.
My friends, I am going to Tagaytay tomorrow with my friends Michelle and Jonas. It'll be my first weekend away from work(!) and the city this year so you bet I am really excited!

We don't really have planned itineraries yet. All we know is that we will stay the night at our friend Mitch's house. And that we want to eat bulalo. And bond and reflect and have fun. Armed with a sense of adventure and thirst to create memories, we'll just wait and see where this weekend trip will take us. Wish us luck ;)

Most days I am just your normal powder-and-lipgloss girl (I also very rarely wear make-up to work). But there are also days when I want to look more presentable - and yes, prettier - like when I go to events, meet up with friends, go on dates, or pose for photos. In days like these, I have my ever-reliable train case to turn to.
I have always said that I am a total make-up newbie. There was a time when I put make-up on a friend and she looked like she got punched in the face x_x I got scared to try it again lest I lose my friends (haha) but through the help of Youtube tutorials and poring over my copies of Allure magazine I am proud to say I have gotten considerably better since then! I did my friend Michelle's make-up on our Annual Party and she looked great! Of course she is already pretty to begin with ^^,
Unlike other girls who have amassed quite a huge collection of cosmetics already, my train case is filled with my favorite and tried-and-tested products. Since I don't really use them regularly I make sure I'll get the best bang for my buck before parting with my hard-earned cash.(I am only an impulsive shopper when it comes to shoes, clothes and books, you see.) Thank God for the Internet because I get to visit various beauty blogs first to read reviews before making up my mind about buying a certain product. There are some products that didn't meet my expectations though (I am looking at you, elf Cream Eyeliner) so I removed them from my train case already.
Anyhoo, time for a Show-and-Tell of my beauty case!

Why do make-up companies give their products really long names? :D Anyway, my train case just stays in my apartment. During times I have to go to my parents' home or stay overnight in someplace, or go somewhere far and I'd need to bring make-up, I bring this:

Please understand though that I don't really wear make-up that much, but I can never leave home without my face powder, oil-blotting paper, and a lipstick (which varies depending on my outfit and mood). But still, it doesn't matter how much make-up you pile on, (good skin and) a smile is still the best prettifier ;)

Krissy's Note: This is a late post that should have been published last Sunday but because I was busy the night before I didn't realize it was already the first Sunday of the month. No thanks as well to the not so reliable SmartBro Prepaid Broadband I am forced to use with my netbook when I'm in my apartment.
Anyhoo.
This month,
I like that it's the Love Month! Valentine's Day may have turned too commercialized already but man, you gotta give Hallmark some credit since it's most probably the best time of the year for them to meet their quotas LOL. Flowers, cards, chocolates, romantic comedies - gotta love them! Buuut, even though I might be the cheesiest person I know, I draw the line on red paper cut-outs of baby Cupids with the bow and arrow :D
I don't like that it's the Love Month. This is Krissy's lonely Miss Single alter-ego speaking, and I just want to say I miss the previous Valentine's Days when I was guaranteed a big bouquet of flowers from my then-boyfriend. I took a Vacation Leave from work that day, mainly because I didn't want to be single AND working on Valentine's Day. I guess I will dig out old love letters from previous flames to "celebrate" that day LOL. Besides, it's my father's birthday that day. Fun fact: My father's name is Valentino because he celebrates his birthday every 14th of February. Cool, huh? :D
I want you to know that I just scored a lifestyle shoot session with renowned photographer Tracey Heppner!! I learned it just about two hours ago and I still can't stop smiling until now! She is the same photographer who took Kym's beautiful My Sassy Girl-inspired engagement photos and the shots were all amazing! She also took photos of Journey's vocalist Arnel Pineda when he had a tattoo done by tattoo artist Ryan Saltiga. Aaaah I feel so happy and giddy and excited! Gotta practice different ways to pose now ;)
I've planned to spend my pre-Valentine weekend in Tagaytay with my friends Mich and Jonas. I'm sure it'll be a fun road-trip! Also, as mentioned in my previous post, my fashion blogger-friends are planning to hold a garage sale and I'll join! I just realized - after cleaning my apartment last Friday - that I do have lots of stuff, most of which I don't even get to use. It's time to regain closet and shoe-rack space by selling some of my clothes and shoes. Please wait for more details soon! ;)
I want to say to someone special, to myself, that Love is not something that can be rushed. It comes in the most unexpected places. Just you wait and see, and I'm sure it'll be sooo worth it ;)
This is a game thought of by the Toothfairy for us bloggers to share a little bit of something about ourselves every first Sunday of the month. We miss you Shirley.
