Review: Maybelline Vivid Matte by Color Sensational Lip Collection

So the election's done and we're just waiting for the final results. I'm hoping for the best but from the partial and unofficial results that have been released so far, I'm already expecting the worst and praying I'm wrong and feeling anxious over nothing.

I couldn't silence my mind enough for a nap, couldn't concentrate on the book I'm currently reading, couldn't even enjoy my afternoon tea. So what do I do?

I play with lipsticks so bright I hope it drives the gloom away --- the Maybelline Vivid Matte by Color Sensational Lipsticks.

Summer in the Philippines is in full swing and these bold, bright, and vivid lip colors are guaranteed to be perfect complementary colors to celebrate summer with. After all, what better timing to show off your colorful lips than while having fun under the sun, yes?

Maybelline sent me three out of the four colors from the collection and I am showing you the swatches here to help you determine which one to get for yourself and your girl friends. ;)

Maybelline Vivid Mattes by Color Sensational in VIVID2 Neon Pink

This is such a great and happy color that I didn't really expect would work on me as I thought it looked similar to MAC Pink Nouveau (I liked that color but it made me look sickly so I *sniff* gave it away to my friend Kira). It's a Barbie pink color that's perfect for soirées and parties yet can bring a nice pop of color to your dressy corporate attire. (It's what I wore when we welcomed Sandara Park to the Philippines for Penshoppe!)

Maybelline Vivid Mattes by Color Sensational in VIVID1 Scarlet Red

The swatch on my hand looks orange-y but it appears redder when applied on the lips. This could be the toned down sisters of my power reds Velvet Matte MAT11, L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Blaze of Red, and L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Star Matte Red in Pure Rouge, except that instead of being a shy, reserved younger sister it could be a really feisty one who demands all the attention from everyone in the family. I love it and this is what I wore on our event held on my last day as a 29 year old and when my boyfriend and I watched Captain America: Civil War.

Maybelline Vivid Mattes by Color Sensational in VIVID3 Violet Pink

This is a pretty, fierce color also but I just feel like it's not too unique. I'll have to swatch it again alongside my other lipsticks to compare, but I can see hints of [my favorite] MAC Girl About Town and L'Oreal Color Riche Electric Lips Touch of Amaranth in there. I absolutely love how it complements my purple hair though, and I wore it to our Oxygen x Billboard event.

The lipsticks are non-drying even with the matte formulation although you might still want to swipe lip balm on before application. As you can see on the photos, they're very opaque and stay on for about three to four hours without eating. There is nothing subtle about these lipsticks AT ALL. If there's one thing I could change, I wish they made different colored covers for each depending on the color family to make it easier to know what lipstick shade it is as opposed to checking the sticker label at the bottom.

All in all, I highly recommend the Maybelline Vivid Mattes by Color Sensational line and at P299 a pop (with the chance of even costing P199 each when Maybelline holds one of their massive sales) they're very affordable. Pretty easy to get, too, as they're available at all Maybelline counters nationwide! I don't know if I'll get VIVID4 Rosy Orange though seeing as how orange wildly clashes with my hair.

Have you tried any of these products yet? I have yet to try the Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Powder but I'm loving the Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation and the Maybelline HyperSharp Power Black Liner!
