Happy Skin x Disney : Second Chapter featuring Jasmine and Belle

22 June 2019

Dear Happy Skin, teach me how to quit you.

I tried to avoid buying new makeup because my stash is overflowing already as it is, but with Happy Skin releasing a second, more modern version of their Disney collection, well how could I resist?

I simply could not, my friends, and here we are.

My only gripe from Happy Skin's first collaboration with Disney is that Jasmine was not included in the lineup, so them including Jasmine now is one of the biggest factors why I had to have these. That and the packaging. I adored the Princesses' role in the Wreck It Ralph 2 movie and I love that Happy Skin veered towards that direction when they were conceptualizing this collection.

Of all the Disney Princesses both old and new, Jasmine and Belle are my favorites. Not only because I want Jasmine's tiger and Belle's library, but also because I admire their inner strength, fortitude, and will to defy the "rules" the society set and followed their hearts. Very fittingly, theirs are also the shades I liked most from this collection.

I got the Jasmine and Belle set of the Happy Skin x Disney Moisturizing Matte Lip Click Duo, Happy Skin x Disney Multi-Use Mousse Glow in BFF, and Happy Skin x Disney Cooling Lip Gloss in A Whole New World.

The Disney | Happy Skin Moisturizing Matte Lip Click is a new innovation that always releases a fresh lip product with every use—you only get what you need in every click! This delivers a highly pigmented pout with a matte, long-lasting finish. Non-drying on the lips, this lightweight but creamy formula glides on effortlessly, too!

Handswatch of Jasmine and Belle
The Moisturizing Matte Lip Clicks come in a variation of MLBB shades. Jasmine is a nude mauve while Belle is a warm coral.

I have this habit of clicking on my Hi-Tec-C Coleto pens so clicking on the lipstick is fun. As expected from any Happy Skin product, the color payoff is so good, the formula is moisturizing and non-drying, and the shades are so pretty! You have to be careful when clicking though because I don't think you can put the lipstick back in the tube once it's out.

Embrace the real you. Get ready to shine with the Disney | Happy Skin Cooling Lip Gloss! This non-sticky, glitter-free lip gloss leaves a natural, high-shine color with an even coverage and clean finish. It goes on smoothly without bleeding and its gentle texture goes on comfortably without leaving a sticky feeling. It also features a special natural mint extract that cools & refreshes the lips!

In the 10+ years that I have been blogging, my blog's heading has always contained the phrase "peace, love, and lip gloss", but I actually prefer lipsticks. Nevertheless, I loved the Happy Skin x Disney Cooling Lip Gloss because it is pigmented, non-sticky, and non-glittery. I liked its clean and glass-like finish as it refreshes and plumps up my pout. Love at first coat!

Say hello to your new best friend with the Disney | Happy Skin Multi-Use Mousse Glow in BFF (Beast Friends Forever), which can be used for the eyes, cheeks, and body! This multi-purpose mousse makeup features a unique formula with an extra creamy and bouncy texture, generous payoff, and easy application. Lightweight but buildable, this mousse glides on and stays with a smooth powder matte finish.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN. It's so soft and bouncy and creamy, and the shade is perfect for adding my fresh-from-the-beach tan a lovely glow. I think I need to get backups of this because I will definiely be using it up.

And because ya girl's purchases racked up to more than Php 2,500, I got a free Inner Strength Outer Sparkle pocket mirror as GWP.

More than anything else I am just so glad that Happy Skin expanded and added on their first Disney collection. I love everything that Happy Skin has put out so far and I am so inspired by this local makeup brand's success. Congratulations and I am looking forward to more awesome collaborations and collections!

Did you get anything from this collection? I want to see your loot, too!

48 months

18 June 2019

Has it really been four years?

Apparently.

The moments have blurred into days into weeks into months, and before we realized it four years have passed.

It has been a wonderful ride so far, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I love you, J.

Photo: I know, right? I'm terrified of spiders and before Tom Holland's Spider-Man have never watched any other Spider-Man movies, and here I am clinging to my own Spider-Man. This was taken last weekend at the Oreo-sponsored Spider-Man: Far From Home event at Robinsons Place Manila. J's suit is from Spandex Hero PH, a store he owns and manages. Visit on Facebook and Instagram to grab your own hero costumes. ;)

Something new from Althea Korea: A'bloom

21 May 2019

My cousin Reuben got married last Sunday and I was honored to be one of the bridesmaids ♡ From the get-go I decided I will do my own makeup but because unfortunate things happen at unfortunate times, I suffered the worst breakout in my 33 years of existence two days before the event. I was anxious and stressed, mostly because of course I wanted to look my best for this special occasion. I took two products from the newest kit I got from Althea Korea as an Althea Angel, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.

My Althea Angel kit filled with A'bloom products!
I am not kidding. The A'bloom Brightening Lemon Lime Mask and A'bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster are LIFESAVERS!

Additionally, I'd like to say that I am a sucker for great packaging and oh my, the packaging of these products are too cute for my life! I wanted to just keep them forever but since they're really adorable AND affordable, I guess I have valid reason to hoard!

As mentioned, the A'bloom Brightening Lemon Lime Mask and A'bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster helped me deal with my breakout. Well, they weren't entirely gone but the improvements on my skin were visibly noticeable.

BRIGHTENING LEMON LIME MASK

Simply The Zest
  • This brightening mask clarifies and brighten dull skin to unveil the natural glow from within.
  • The double dose of Vitamin C from lemon and lime extracts banishes dark spots and green tea boosts brightening while calming skin.
Key ingredients: Niacinamide, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

I am not big on masks, to be honest. Well, I like them for self-care days and all, and I cannot deny that relaxing with a book and a mask on is very indulgent, but sometimes it feels too tedious for something whose effects are not really for long-term. Slapping on the Brightening Lemon Lime Mask was very enjoyable for me though because I LOVED the smell. My skin also looked brighter even after washing my face the next day! I also believe the serum helped in calming my skin down and lessening the redness.

BHA BLACKHEAD BLASTER

Blackhead out without the ouch
  • No pain blackhead and whitehead removal with Natural BHA Stick
  • Gentle and non-irritating formula treats and prevents new ones from forming
Key ingredient: Natural BHA (White Willow Bark Extract 5,000ppm)

The BHA Blackhead Blaster helped me deal with my blackheads and whiteheads without the pain nor discomfort of other products that aim to do the same. It's very easy to use: you just need to apply onto the targeted areas, massage to release trapped oil and dirt, and rinse away! Very convenient and hassle-free!

On the day of the wedding, I woke up with clearer skin, ready for my close up. ;)

I applied my liquid foundation with the A'bloom Giant Meringue Puff included in my Althea Angel kit.

GIANT MERINGUE PUFF

Dessert anyone?
  • Irresistibly sweet and versatile puff to use dry or wet
  • Extra large size ensures quick and even application
Key ingredient: High density latex free foam

I wet this a bit before using it so it won't absorb too much liquid foundation. I loved that it's soft and gentle against my skin but firm enough not to crumble when in use and while washing. The pointed tip easily reached my face's "nooks and crannies", and provided a nice finish with medium coverage. I am looking forward to getting more use out of this puff.

By the way, here was my bridesmaid makeup look from last Sunday:

Here are the other A'bloom products I am excited to try:

ANTI BLEMISH PEACH MASK

That’s Just Peachy
  • This anti-blemish mask purifies and soothes irritated and sensitive skin.
  • Infused with peach extracts and tea tree oil to regulate oil, balance moisture and purify for soft smooth skin.
Key ingredients: Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract

MOISTURIZING WATERMELON MASK

Keep calm and stay hydrated
  • This mask that packs a punch of hydration and moisturization for waterful skin that lasts
  • A delicious drink for skin with watermelon extract and added lavender to calm the senses
Key ingredients: Citrullus Vulgaris (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract

NOURISHING AVOCADO MASK

The Superfood that is Super-good
  • This mask is rich in antioxidants to nourish and protect skin from harmful environmental factors and prevent wrinkles
  • Infused with avocado extracts and hibiscus for soft supple skin that glows
Key ingredients: Adenosine, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract

BABY MERINGUE PUFF

Dessert anyone?
  • A pack of three irresistibly sweet and versatile puffs to use dry or wet
  • Multi-angle puffs that blend easily for perfect detailed application
Key ingredient High density latex free foam

I am excited to use these with my cream blushes, eye shadows, and cushions!

All in all I am very pleased with Althea's newest offerings, and I can't wait to Add these products (especially the masks!) to Cart so I can also make my friends use them!

Krissyfied Makes cards with the Sizzix Big Shot

20 April 2019

I recently turned 33, and because my favorite person to spoil is myself, I got myself a Sizzix Big Shot as birthday gift!

I am pleased as punch with this gift, I am not even going to talk about how many hours I spent obsessing over whether I should get this or the Cricut Cuttlebug or the super pretty pink-colored limited edition Sizzix Big Shot Plus.

I spent a long time looking for blog reviews about the Sizzix Big Shot but couldn't find any locally, so if there's anyone from the Philippines who is looking for a Sizzix Sister, here ya go. :)

As the box says, the Sizzix Big Shot is a manual shape-cutting and embossing machine. Yay! Another hobby to dip my hands into! Well, I've actually liked scrapbooking and cardmaking, but this takes these to another level. Perfect shapes and cut-outs, y'all!

To be honest though I tried to prolong using this as much as I could because, I don't know, what if I end up not liking it and it'll be another waste of money and time and effort? I was better off doing all these fancy craft projects in my head, but the metal cutting dies I ordered were calling to me.

Eventually I just gave in and opened the box. Thank heavens for Holy Week break.

Assembling was pretty straightforward. I just had to install the handle and I was good to go.

The package includes two cutting pads, one thin die adapter, and one standard platform---pretty much everything you need to start die-cutting and embossing right off the bat if you have dies and embossing folders. These are sold separately but the seller was nice enough to include two free metal cutting dies as freebies. I have also ordered a bunch of these and paper beforehand.

I have had this idea of changing the cards for Krissyfied Makes for a while now and this mason jar die looks perfect.

TA-DA! You're looking at the new Krissyfied Makes card backings! I used watercolor paper for this project and I can't wait to tell people why.

I am debuting them at the April Feels Day 2019 event happening next Saturday, April 27, at the LOFT Ortigas. If you love romance, happy endings, and feeling fuzzy all over, you should definitely drop by! Click here for the details.

One night and my cutting pads are already looking worse for wear. This is perfectly normal though according to the hundreds of Youtube tutorials I have watched, although I am already saving up for new back up cutting pads. See? That's how I know my Sizzix Big Shot will be with me for a long time. I already have a long line up of crafting projects for us and I am so very excited.

What a perfect birthday gift! Thanks, self. ♡

My customized Innisfree My Palette

15 April 2019

One of my boyfriend J's birthday gifts to me this year is the opportunity to go crazy with colors my own Innisfree My Palette that I filled with pans of my choice. It was so difficult to choose because the colors are all so pretty!! During our trip to the Lion City we went to four different Innisfree stores in Singapore (Bugis Junction, Plaza Singapura, Vivo City, Jurong Point) and ultimately came up with these:

Medium Innisfree My Palette in gold suede | Two My Eyeshadows (Matte) in 1 and 34 | Two My Eyeshadows (Glitter) in 16 and 33 | One My Highlighter (Cream) in 1 | One My Lip and Cheek (Airy) in 2
Innisfree released a total of 100 My Eyeshadow (40 matte, 20 glitter, and 40 shimmer), 22 My Blusher (17 powder and five cream), three My Highlighter (one cream and two powder), four My Contour, five My Eyebrow, three My Concealer, three My Corrector, and a My Eyeshadow eye primer, while the palettes to put the components in come in three sizes and different designs. They even come up with limited edition cases. Holy freaking endless possible combinations! Now can you see how tempting it is to keep on building new palettes?

I thought long and hard for a possible theme for my first My Palette. Do I go with deviant and outrageous colors? Pink and plum, prim, and proper? Bold and smokey? In the end I chose to go with peach and coral shades; neutral enough for everyday wear but ante can be upped for dressier lewks. I also find the colors flattering for me, and of course since it's a gift from the boyf I'd want it to be something I can use a lot.

My Palette of choice is the Medium My Palette in gold suede. Classy. It has two compartments that can fit eight small pans OR four big pans OR four small pans and two small pans. It also came with two mini brushes.

Those black squares are thin magnetic sheets that hold the pans in place.

I was worried about destroying the pans when I transfer them but I didn't need to worry because it was so easy! Here are photos I took when I transferred the cream My Highlighter.

I used my nail to pop it out and it easily slid off the original container, no brute force needed! They're also very secured in My Palette and I don't think they will slide off easily thanks to the magnetic sheets.

Here is my customized My Palette:

AHHHHHHH SO PRETTY!!!!! *abundance of heart eyes emojis*

To be honest I wasn't counting too much on the quality of these because I have had not-so-good experience with Korean eyeshadows in the past. But as evidenced by the Althea Eye Palette, their makeup products have improved so much. These colors are all buttery, easy to blend, and very pigmented. Pretty affordable, too! The medium case costs SGD 13, the eyeshadows cost SGD 8 each, the highlighting cream SGD 11, and lip and cheek SGD 12. (J paid for the case and four eyeshadows.)

I swatched the colors for you.

My Eyeshadows (Matte) in 1 and 34 | My Eyeshadows (Glitter) in 16 and 33
With flash:
My Eyeshadows (Matte) in 1 and 34 | My Eyeshadows (Glitter) in 16 and 33
Full disclosure: I was supposed to get the My Primer pan instead of M1 but somehow I ended up with this. I should have double checked before bringing my picks to the counter but it was a long day and I was too excited to watch Shazam! LOL. I am still hoping to get My Primer (probably from their Philippine stores as I am back in Manila). No complaints about the other colors because they're all so pretty, pigmented, and easy to work with.

My Highlighter (Cream) in 1 | My Lip and Cheek (Airy) in 2
With flash:
My Highlighter (Cream) in 1 | My Lip and Cheek (Airy) in 2
I have an expansive makeup collection but I don't have these colors yet. I think it'll also be my first time to use a highlighter in this cream form. The colors are pigmented on first swipe so these have to be applied with a gentle hand.

My only gripe is how I now have six plastic containers that these shades originally came with. I wish there is a way to purchase new colors without the individual plastic cases, but I understand they're needed for hygienic purposes. I guess I'll just have to find a way to repurpose them.

All in all I am very pleased with my customized Innisfree My Palette! As I said, it can get pretty addicting because of how easy it is. Special mention to my boyfriend J for being extra patient for all those Innisfree visits to swatch and test and purchase, hihi. I will make sure to hit the pan on these shades first before I make a new one.

I am so excited!

33

06 April 2019

Another year older.

I spent my 33rd in Singapore. It was a pretty low-key celebration, actually. My boyfriend J and friend Ed and I went to a dimsum buffet, hung out at CHIJMES, ate yakitori at Bugis, then had the yummiest lemon cheesecake and Pink Moscato at home. Simple as compared to my celebrations from the past, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

33 and happy. My heart is grateful.
