I died. Then I woke up, and I'm alive again.

31 August 2009

I had the weirdest dream last Friday night.
You know that kind of dream where you have this weird feeling like this could not be happening, yet it feels so real that it's impossible to be just a dream? This dream is one of those.
In my dream, I was rushing on the second-floor corridor of San Jose Academy, the school where I graduated elementary and high school from. I was wearing my school uniform and was really worried because I was already late. I finally reached the classroom where one of my previous teachers had already started the lesson for the day. She saw me and stopped the discussion just so she can reprimand me for being late. I remember feeling confused and thinking, "Wait a minute. How can I still be in school? I'm already working for godssakes." But I just bit my tongue, apologized and strained myself to listen to the lesson.
Moments later, a big fire erupted on the ground floor. We looked outside to see what's happening and were terrified to see the fire quickly spreading until it reached a room that contains kerosene, gasoline and other highly-flammable materials (which isn't really there in real life, heavens no!) There's no other way out, we're going to die! I closed my eyes, made the sign of the cross, told myself that I love my family so much, and then, nothing. I opened my eyes and was surprised at what I saw! It was exactly like a scene from the movie "What Dreams May Come"! Everything was more vibrant, radiant and the colors just pop! It was beautiful! I figured this must be like when a person dies. I was thankful of my quick and painless death and looked at my body to check if there were any damages, but there weren't any. I felt light, happy and content, like nothing could go wrong. Most of all I became aware that I was not concerned anymore about the things I have left undone. Suddenly I was out of the classroom and was standing in the rooftop of a very tall building with three other people (whose names have already escaped me). I wondered if we would already be able to fly. There's only one way to find out, yes? I jumped out the window! I was already halfway down when I first became afraid. Scary thoughts filled my head, "What if I'm still alive? Then technically I am committing suicide!" I had no time to dwell on those thoughts though because just before I let my brains get scattered on the floor I suddenly stopped falling, and began to fly.
It was amazing.
And then I thought that perhaps I can visit someone from the world of the living. I hesitated on going to my parents' house because I know they would have been so depressed.Only one name popped out my mind: Dane. I said his name, and suddenly he was in front of me. He was wearing a black shirt and walking alone in a mall. I called his name, and he seemed to have heard me though he cannot see me.
Krissy: Sweet!
Dane: Sweet mo ba ako? (Am I your Sweet?)
Krissy: Oo naman! (Of course!)
Dane: Bakit? (Why?)
Krissy: E kasi love mo ako... (Because you love me...)
And he smiled, and I hugged him. I know he cannot feel me nor see me, but it certainly looked (and felt!) like he did. I saw his smile one last time, and then I woke up.
Until now I can still remember how sweet that dream was. And no I am not refering to the latter part of the dream.Somehow it got me thinking about how life is indeed short so we just have to make the most out of it. Imagine dying just like that, one snap and you're gone. I guess I would prefer to be prepared.
So yeah, I am happy that I woke up after that dream and thankful to be alive. Ü

From flip flops to surprise birthday parties to babies.

26 August 2009

This week I...
  • got myself a treat!
Havaianas Slim Stripes in yellow

black and white striped footbed with yellow straps

Isn't that a cheery color combination? Instant pick-me-upper! Ü

And since we are in the topic of flip flops, let me share some of my favorite pairs, in no particular order, all bought last year.

Havaianas Fairy in Branco

This is originally for Kids but they also designed limited pairs in adult sizes. It is actually my first pair. I did not want to buy them before but when I saw the fairies design (and they're glow in the dark as well!) I just had to succumb! Thus started my "obsession".

Havaianas Flash Etnics in Golden Sun

This is the only pair I can wear in the office because we're not allowed to wear flip flops :D

Havaianas Australia LE Stedman Bones

This pair is designed by Aussie Luke Stedman. I love how it says 'left' and 'right' on the footbed. I also love the crossbones pin on the straps and its pirate theme.

Havaianas Top Logo Silver Metallics in Acai

This is a Limited Edition and came in a snazzy silver box. It was even covered in dainty tissue paper. I love the metal logo. Ü

Havaianas LE Saks Fifth Avenue - Trish McEvoy

Saks Fifth Avenue teamed up with Havaianas to benefit charity:water. I love its beachy-feel and the powder-blue and pink color combi.

Havaianas Kids Candies in hot pink

This is another kids design released on adult sizes as well. I love its color and the candy prints. Add to that the glittery cupcake pin on the strap, very cute indeed!

Now I love my pairs but it is clearly very expensive to continue on collecting them. I plan to not buy another pair for the next few months (since these are very sturdy, very good value for money I tell ya) but if I see my dream pair then maybe I won't be able to stop myself. My dream pair? This:

Havaianas LE Batman in black

Batman is my ultimate favorite superhero and to have this pair will be truly awesome! However the stores are already out of this pair and if I manage to find one it'll be second hand anymore. Nothing wrong about that but when it comes to shoes (or any kind of footwear for that matter) I prefer them brand new.

  • attended a surprise birthday party!
Last Saturday was Myk's - a classmate from college - birthday. His boyfriend and friends were all so nice to throw a surprise birthday party for him! His party was named Myk's Sweet 16 + 8. Very clever, yes? :D

(from left to right) Grace, Ed, Joseph, Mines, Me

Ed invited me and I couldn't say no to him so I did! It was potluck and I brought brownies and chocolate crinkles. Sweets for the sweets from Sweet. Ü

Me with Kuya Myk

Me with Ed

Me with Kenneth

It was lotsa fun! And the celebrator did not spend a dime! Can someone throw a surprise party for me as well? Kidding! :D Shame I had to leave early. But we'll def do this again, yeah?

  • visited my goddaughter Kaylee
Meet my pretty goddaughter Kaylee Brent

She is Dianne's - one of my bestfriends since high school - daughter. I finally got to visit her again! The last time I saw her was on her christening four months ago! I am such a terrible godmother :( I meant to visit her eons ago but work and other things got in the way. Basically when I'm in Navotas her mother's at work, and when they are free it is I who's at work. The last time I saw her she was just so tiny and now, look at how she has grown!

Mother and daughter

There are times I still cannot believe Dianne is already a mom. I mean, we grew up together and went through A LOT together. Think puberty, awkward adolescent phase, first boyfriends, first heartbreaks, first soirees, and an awful lot of fights and making-ups. We used to be babies, and now she is taking care of one! Given the present circumstances I know she went through (and is going through) a lot as well, I just wish I could be there for her as much as I did before... And I promised myself I will. Ü

I need to sleep now... Back to work again tomorrow! But I'm actually looking forward to it... This weekend is payday baby! And guess who's going shoe-shopping on Saturday? Me! ♥♥

My first Blogspot The Week That Was post

19 August 2009

Let me give you - non-readers of my Multiply journal - a brief introduction before I go on. Ü

I am renting a pad in Quezon City with my friend/ officemate Asther so it would be easier for me to go to and from work. And of course, I wanted to exercise and practice being independent. Unfortunately we don't have a computer there so what I do is I cull what happened the rest of the week and make a The Week That Was post out of them that I post during my rest days whenever I am in my parents' house and have access to my computer. I am still without a laptop (boo) and I cannot bring my computer to the pad because my younger siblings need them for school.

So, without further adieu, I bring my first Blogspot The Week That Was. Ü

August 13
My officemate Henry bought my very old and battered but still functioning perfectly Nokia 3315! Haha! If any of you guys remember it this phone was released way back 2002. I have been meaning to use it as a back-up phone for my Sun Cellular sim card but because of it being super old and all I was already a little embarassed to use it in public. Now that Henry bought it I did not have any qualms at all about getting myself one of those cheap Nokia phones like the 1208 or 1209. I just wanted something I can just whip out anywhere without worrying someone might snatch it. The phone models I mentioned are dirt cheap that I am not afraid any robber will want to get hold of it XD And of course battery life is important for me as well since I would mainly use Sun Cellular for calls. They offer the lowest rates on phone calls, anyway ;)

After work my friend/ officemate Mich and I took advantage of the office diner's free Internet and then went afterwards to McDonald's to spend my windfall (haha!) and because I was seriously craving for McFlurry. But then when we got there I ordered large fries and Coke Float instead. Yum! Fastfood orgasm! My thighs will probably hate me in the future when I develop cellulite but at the moment I just don't care. I'm eating them empty calorie-laden fries! :D And yeah, it was super fun swapping stories with a friend over fast food.

August 14
My friend/ officemate Sasha and I went to the snazzy Cyberzone in the newly-built SM North EDSA - Annex to get myself a new phone. I am telling you, I am not a techie but seeing all those gadgets made me want to suddenly bring out a credit card (I don't have one, mainly because I know I am not yet that financially responsible) and swipe endlessly.

Anyway, I told you I wanted to get myself a cheap phone, and I did! It was a Nokia 1209. Click here for the specs, if you want haha! (I'm pretty sure there's nothing much there.) I got it for just P1,550. Yay! :D

August 16
I went home to Navotas because I didn't know we needed to wear formal clothes the next day as we will be having a pictorial for the Group Directory. I would have been alone at the pad anyway because Ar will be going with our friends/ officemates to Bulacan so it's all good. I know I should practice being independent now more than ever because Ar and I rarely see each other at the pad ever since she transfered to another department but I don't know, I get lonely when I am alone there. As much as possible I want someone to be with me so going home out of schedule was okay.

August 17
Pictorial day! And guess what, it did not push through so we had no choice but to wear formal clother again the next day X[ This did not sit very well with me since I was supposed to go home to Navotas after work but what can I do, right? So I just sucked it in and smiled.

Dane and I went to UP Diliman after work so he can inquire how he can get in the MBA program. Wow. I wanted to study again as well and take up Creative Writing but I don't think I can fit it in my schedule right now. But we'll see.

Here's a photo of us. Ü

I wore: a brown collared top with ribbon tied at the back, black skirt, Primadonna oxford booties, accented with a dark brown flower corsage

August 18
The pictorial pushed through! I went to the office even though it was my rest day just so I can have my photo taken. I was with Mich who incidentally was in VL. Before we went home she decided to return the favor from Thursday and treated me to yummy arroz caldo from the company diner and bagels from Country Style.

So what did I wear?

I wore belted purple and beige striped dress by Juana and Havaianas Flash Etnics in Golden Sun and accessorized with a dark bronze headband and bronze bag

I actually wore my Primadonna oxford booties for the pictorial but kicked them off for my more sensible Havs on my way home. This photo was taken on our way to the UP-Ayala Technohub. Mich wanted to go there to check the Apple center for iPod accessories, reason being is she just got herself an iPod Chromatic! :D

Mich with her new baby

So there, that was my first The Week That Was post in my Blogspot account. I think I am slowly getting the hang of it again. Can't wait to post more! :)

Gonna leave you with this:

Authentic Laime Paris scarf with cherry prints

I won this in an eBay bidding for the unbelievably low price of P46! Add the shipping fee of P70 and I've got myself a real bargain! I adore cherry prints (I have long been wanting to do a nail art of them) and this is a welcome addition to my already-bulging at the seams closet. Which reminds me, I would like to do an online sale of some of my clothes and accessories soon! I am a very impulsive shopper (if you look at this album it will be very obvious to you) and most of the stuff I bought just ended up in my closet, unused. So when I do my online sale I hope you peeps will take a look at them and see whether you like anything ;)

And... we'll watch this on Friday:

The Time Traveler's Wife
starring gorgeouses Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams

Judging from the book this is supposed to be good, and I am a sucker for these kinds of movies so yeah, I'm excited!

Will say ta-ta for now, I'll be back soon! ♥♥

I am Krissy, and I am back. Ü

Wow. This blog has been on hiatus for MONTHS. Sorry about that. But I haven't really gone anywhere you see. What happened is that I just updated my Multiply journal more frequently. It got too taxing to maintain more than one blog, what with me being able to go to my parents' house and use my computer only two days a week since I am at the pad I am renting with a friend/ officemate the rest of it. But even then I make sure I read the blogs I follow every time I get the chance. So I haven't completely been out of the loop. :)

Now I'm back, and hopefully for good. I have decided to use Blogspot for my blog posts and Multiply for photo albums.

Next comes another post about The Week That Was. (It is a tradition I started in my Multiply - since I am only able to update once a week at most I make sure I recount how my week went through words and photos.) I am looking forward to meeting more people and following more blogs. And of course, being inspired by your posts as well.

So, missed me? ;)
