Review and Swatches: Beauty Pop by Penshoppe LiteMatte Lipsticks

28 June 2019

Coming from yesterday's post about Beauty by Penshoppe HydraMatte Lipsticks, I hope you're still excited to see lipstick swatches because I have more for you! This time, I'm reviewing the Beauty by Penshoppe LiteMatte Lipsticks.

True to their goal of making Penshoppe a global brand, Beauty Pop by Penshoppe is headlined by two international supermodels, Romee Strijd and Lais Ribiero. Their first offering is a lipstick line with 18 shades in two matte finishes: HydraMatte and LiteMatte. Formulated in Japan, each sub-category boasts of shades ranging from nudes, pinks and mauves, plums and wines, and corals and reds. There is definitely something for everyone as all colorways are made to compliment every skin tone.

LiteMatte Lipsticks

Beauty Pop by Penshoppe's LiteMatte Lipsticks are lightweight, long-wearing, and highly buildable. It also has a powder-like, blurring property.

Beauty Pop by Penshoppe HydraMatte Lipsticks
All Dolled Up | Next Move | Prim & Proper | Queen | Retro | Slay | Smack | So Extra | Wild Child
All Dolled Up - nude coral
Next Move - mauve
Prim & Proper - medium nude
Queen - blue-based red
Retro - brick red
Slay - chocolate brown
Smack - true red
So Extra - vibrant plum
Wild Child - electric coral
HydraMattes are said to be more moisturizing but I actually didn't feel a significant difference between those and these LiteMattes. If forced to choose, I would say I prefer these because the colors are bolder and brighter. As compared to HydraMattes, these didn't need several swipes as one or two is enough for maximum pigmentation. However, the darkest color in the bunch, Slay, also applied patchy.

My favorites from this line are Queen, Retro, and Wild Child, and my top favorite from both lines is Queen! I know the photos of the lip swatches are a bit bad because they were taken indoors under fluorescent lighting using my Huawei P20 Pro (I'm sorry, I was just too excited to share them with you!), so today I put on a peach-themed face with Queen and took photos by the window.

Nice, right? Such a pretty pop of color! It applied smoothly on my lips, no lip balm nor liner required, and it lasted even after lunch! Definitely worth more than its Php 219 price!

Have you gotten the chance to check Penshoppe Beauty Pop online or in stores yet? I suggest you do and make your beauty pop!

Thanks for reading this! Again, you may check out my review of the HydraMatte line here. Happy lipstick-shopping!

Review and Swatches: Beauty Pop by Penshoppe HydraMatte Lipsticks

27 June 2019

Great news, makeup lovers: global fashion and lifestyle brand Penshoppe has resurfaced their beauty line with the launch of Beauty Pop by Penshoppe and I am so here for it! Aside from being a long time fan of the brand and the company behind it, I loved their colored eyeliners and lip gloss palettes from many years ago so I welcome this news with open arms and a willing wallet!

I went to their event last night and went home with the complete lineup of lipsticks so I hope you are ready because the following two posts will be picture-heavy with swatches of all 18 shades (ᗒᗨᗕ)

Can I just say, I am living for the packaging! I am heart eyes emoji over the gradients of pastel shades!

HydraMatte Lipsticks

Beauty Pop by Penshoppe's HydraMatte lipsticks aim to moisturize the lips with a non-drying antioxidant Vitamin E. They also boast of a full color coverage with a velvety matte finish.

Beauty Pop by Penshoppe HydraMatte Lipsticks
Day Dream | Fearless | Girl Next Door | Heiress | Legally Nude | Mauve It | Naughty & Nice | Party Fever | Very Berry
Day Dream - cool pink
Fearless - deep plum
Girl Next Door - rosy nude
Heiress - pink-based red
Legally Nude - pinkish nude
Mauve It - purplish mauve
Naughty & Nice - hot pink
Party Fever - red violet
Very Berry - cranberry red
I love that these smell and taste like milk chocolate, hee. Color is buildable, although it needs several swipes before the color appears. My arm swatches took five gentle swipes before color showed up completely, and I say gentle because I was worried the lipsticks would break as they look too delicate. Meanwhile, I had to swipe them on several times on my lips as well but they all delivered even color except for Fearless that looked patchy on my lips no matter how many times I swipe. Nevertheless they are indeed moisturizing and gentle on my lips and stayed put.

My favorite shades from this line are Girl Next Door, Mauve It, and Party Fever. If there's anything I would recommend you to skip, it would be Fearless because it's too patchy.

My verdict? These are fun colors to have and you should get them if you don't have these colors yet. At Php 219 a pop, they're pretty affordable and getting a shade or two will not break the bank.

The HydraMattes are more moisturizing and softer on my lips than the LiteMattes, but I think I like the bolder colors of the latter more. I will post reviews and swatches of the LiteMattes tomorrow in case you want to check it out before purchasing. (Update: My review of the LiteMattes is live now!) They're available online and at select Penshoppe boutiques nationwide so definitely go and swatch, too!

Happy Skin x Disney : Second Chapter featuring Jasmine and Belle

22 June 2019

Dear Happy Skin, teach me how to quit you.

I tried to avoid buying new makeup because my stash is overflowing already as it is, but with Happy Skin releasing a second, more modern version of their Disney collection, well how could I resist?

I simply could not, my friends, and here we are.

My only gripe from Happy Skin's first collaboration with Disney is that Jasmine was not included in the lineup, so them including Jasmine now is one of the biggest factors why I had to have these. That and the packaging. I adored the Princesses' role in the Wreck It Ralph 2 movie and I love that Happy Skin veered towards that direction when they were conceptualizing this collection.

Of all the Disney Princesses both old and new, Jasmine and Belle are my favorites. Not only because I want Jasmine's tiger and Belle's library, but also because I admire their inner strength, fortitude, and will to defy the "rules" the society set and followed their hearts. Very fittingly, theirs are also the shades I liked most from this collection.

I got the Jasmine and Belle set of the Happy Skin x Disney Moisturizing Matte Lip Click Duo, Happy Skin x Disney Multi-Use Mousse Glow in BFF, and Happy Skin x Disney Cooling Lip Gloss in A Whole New World.

The Disney | Happy Skin Moisturizing Matte Lip Click is a new innovation that always releases a fresh lip product with every use—you only get what you need in every click! This delivers a highly pigmented pout with a matte, long-lasting finish. Non-drying on the lips, this lightweight but creamy formula glides on effortlessly, too!

Handswatch of Jasmine and Belle
The Moisturizing Matte Lip Clicks come in a variation of MLBB shades. Jasmine is a nude mauve while Belle is a warm coral.

I have this habit of clicking on my Hi-Tec-C Coleto pens so clicking on the lipstick is fun. As expected from any Happy Skin product, the color payoff is so good, the formula is moisturizing and non-drying, and the shades are so pretty! You have to be careful when clicking though because I don't think you can put the lipstick back in the tube once it's out.

Embrace the real you. Get ready to shine with the Disney | Happy Skin Cooling Lip Gloss! This non-sticky, glitter-free lip gloss leaves a natural, high-shine color with an even coverage and clean finish. It goes on smoothly without bleeding and its gentle texture goes on comfortably without leaving a sticky feeling. It also features a special natural mint extract that cools & refreshes the lips!

In the 10+ years that I have been blogging, my blog's heading has always contained the phrase "peace, love, and lip gloss", but I actually prefer lipsticks. Nevertheless, I loved the Happy Skin x Disney Cooling Lip Gloss because it is pigmented, non-sticky, and non-glittery. I liked its clean and glass-like finish as it refreshes and plumps up my pout. Love at first coat!

Say hello to your new best friend with the Disney | Happy Skin Multi-Use Mousse Glow in BFF (Beast Friends Forever), which can be used for the eyes, cheeks, and body! This multi-purpose mousse makeup features a unique formula with an extra creamy and bouncy texture, generous payoff, and easy application. Lightweight but buildable, this mousse glides on and stays with a smooth powder matte finish.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN. It's so soft and bouncy and creamy, and the shade is perfect for adding my fresh-from-the-beach tan a lovely glow. I think I need to get backups of this because I will definiely be using it up.

And because ya girl's purchases racked up to more than Php 2,500, I got a free Inner Strength Outer Sparkle pocket mirror as GWP.

More than anything else I am just so glad that Happy Skin expanded and added on their first Disney collection. I love everything that Happy Skin has put out so far and I am so inspired by this local makeup brand's success. Congratulations and I am looking forward to more awesome collaborations and collections!

Did you get anything from this collection? I want to see your loot, too!

48 months

18 June 2019

Has it really been four years?

Apparently.

The moments have blurred into days into weeks into months, and before we realized it four years have passed.

It has been a wonderful ride so far, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I love you, J.

Photo: I know, right? I'm terrified of spiders and before Tom Holland's Spider-Man have never watched any other Spider-Man movies, and here I am clinging to my own Spider-Man. This was taken last weekend at the Oreo-sponsored Spider-Man: Far From Home event at Robinsons Place Manila. J's suit is from Spandex Hero PH, a store he owns and manages. Visit on Facebook and Instagram to grab your own hero costumes. ;)
