Gifts for your techie valentine

13 February 2016

Sharing earphones with your special someone to listen to music or watch something together may sound cute and sweet, but if you're somewhere noisy then it can get really annoying trying to hear from one measly earphone. Believe me, trying to pass the time before your movie starts by watching Lucifer while there's a program happening at the Activity Center and there is a dragon dance going around TriNoma for Chinese New Year is not that fun even when you're holding hands with your boyfriend.

Urbanears solves that problem with the Humlan headphones and its ZoundPlug.

Remember that sequence in Begin Again where Greta (Keira Knightley) and Dan (Mark Ruffalo) use a splitter so they can share Dan's music in his iPod? The Humlan helps you reenact those scenes, with the splitter built in so you don't have to worry about losing it. You can use any other earphones with a 3.5 mm jack and voila! In my case I used my lilac Urbanears Bagis because I'm me. Hee.

You can see here where my Bagis connects to Miah's Humlan ♥
Yoko of Gurren Lagann third-wheeling in our Lucifer-time
Sharing just became cheesier. ♥

Aaand since 'tis the season to be cheesy, wouldn't this duo be the perfect present for you and your honey? Especially if, like us, you also love watching movies and TV shows [and listening to Fun.] together. The Urbanears Humlan and Bagis can be bought individually or in a bundle from all Beyond the Box and Digital Walker stores nationwide.

Speaking of Valentine gifts, here are other offerings from the aforementioned tech stores that you can choose from!

Fuse Chicken Titan Loop Key Chain Cable
No more frayed and damaged cables. Beyond the Box outs the last travel cable you’ll ever need as their Featured Product for the Month: the Fuse Chicken Titan Loop Key Chain Cable.
Compared to other MFI-certified Lightning cables that use plastic or nylon housing, the Titan Loop uses two layers of flexible high-strength steel to surround the inner cables. It is permanently sealed and held together with a one-piece housing fused over the electronics and metal cabling. That means it won’t break or snap under the pressure of everyday use. This 25-centimeter cable also functions as a key loop so you can bring it anywhere with you. Simply connect the little adapter at the USB-end to the Lightning-end to complete the loop. Made for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 6s Plus, the Titan Loop is available for only P1,650 in all Beyond the Box stores nationwide!
BATTPACK 101
Never go through the frustration of rummaging through your bags for keys, cards, power banks, and headphones again because the Digital Walker Gear of the Month has the answer to your problem - the BATT PACK 101, a little convenient and stylish pack designed to keep all essentials for individuals who are constantly on the move.
Made from Ballistic Nylon, the BATT PACK 101 has proven itself to be the case that keeps all the little and big things together and intact within its sturdy exterior. Great for quick access and easy grabbing when you hit the road, it comes with a removable 3000 mAh USB battery and has dedicated pockets for cards, earphones, and phone cables. The pack also comes with a detachable industrial strength carabiner that attaches easily to backpacks, suitcases, and more, making sure you keep locked in and connected at all times.
If you’re the type to lose track of your tech essentials inside a bag, this one’s for you. Function’s BATT PACK 101 is now available in Digital Walker stores nationwide at the awesome price of P2,350.
Apple Watch
If you can’t take your special someone by the hand, take them (gently) by the wrist with a lovely Apple Watch from Beyond the Box.
All through February, the Apple Watch will be available at a 0% interest for 24-months payment option to all Metrobank, Citibank, Security Bank, PNB, BPI, and East West Bank credit cardholders. As an added Valentines treat, Beyond the Box is also throwing in a Speck Candyshell Apple Watch Case with every purchase of the Apple Watch.
This offer is available in the following branches only: One Rockwell, Resorts World Manila, Lucky Chinatown Mall, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Ermita, Century City Mall, and Uptown Mall. Bundle item is strictly for Apple Watch purchases only.
Coupled up or not, these are great deals you might want to check out!

Althea Korea now ships to the Philippines!

12 February 2016

Without completely meaning it to, my shopping preferences have changed. It could be the hellish traffic. the insane crowds in malls, or a sign of aging, but if I could choose between buying something online or in malls then I would rather go with the former. Yes, I could get lost in bookstore and beauty section aisles all day, but the prospect of braving through Metro Manila traffic is almost enough to put me off shopping.

And that is why I cheer a little extra enthusiastically whenever I get wind of new websites being made available to us. Sooo I'm very pleased to share with you that Althea Korea now ships to the Philippines straight from Korea!

The site will officially open on February 15 but I was chosen to be one of the beta testers. I placed my order on January 23, received the confirmation email that my orders have been shipped on January 25, and my pink box was delivered to my home address on January 30!

Yes, from Korea straight to my house in five working days! No need to worry about taxes or customs fees!

So what is Althea Korea? Borrowing their name from Korea's national flower, Althea Korea is a popular beauty shopping site that ships internationally from Korea to Malaysia and Singapore and now, to the Philippines! They offer comprehensive authentic Korean makeup and skincare selections at the guaranteed best price and unconditional returns. What's more, for a minimum order of P1,500 you can already enjoy free shipping! I know I sound like an infomercial here but seriously these are all great reasons to shop here!

I had a difficult time choosing which items to put in my cart because I want everything. Would you like to see what I bought? Of course you do!

My orders came in a sturdy bubble-wrapped pink box that I can reuse. As you can see, each item is individually wrapped in addition to the pink tissue paper, ensuring your orders are protected during shipping and handling.

Here is a closer look on the items I got!

Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm
Powerful blackhead-removing steam balm.
Dense scrub and capsules help remove blackheads more effectively.

I haven't used this yet because I'm still waiting for a weekend when I'm free to do my much-needed pampering time. Truth be told I put this in my cart because I was intrigued by the egg shape, hee.

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder
Double sebum-control system controls secretion of sebum to keep the skin soft and fresh all day long.
Jeju natural mineral and mint ingredients control skin oil and moisture to keep the skin healthy.

My friend Alex swears by Innisfree so I'm excited to use this.

Missha Soft Blending Stick Blusher in Sugar Glam
Comes in cream formulation with a brush at the other end for blending.

I lost my Laura Mercier highlighter (huhuhu) and I haven't bought a new one yet so this is a welcome addition to my traincase. This quickly became one of my favorites because I love the subtle shimmer that easily brightens up my face.

Banila Co Prime Eye Primer
Eye shadow base (pink) increases the vitality of eye make up.
Eye concealer (beige) overs dark circles and brightens the eye area.

All those nights staying up late have unfortunately taken a toll on my undereyes. I don't use it that much, though. I only use it on days I apply eye makeup.

Freebies: Sample sizes of Etude House Big Cover Concealer BB

I love everything I got and I seriously can't wait to shop more when the website officially opens!

Now here comes awesome news: GRAND OPENING PROMOTIONS!

Free 300 credits to shop on ph.althea.kr for every new sign up!
Free shipping for a minimum purchase of P1,000 during their launching month!
Daebak Deals 1+1!
Zero Peso Deals!

Have I convinced you enough yet? Bookmark Althea Korea now and get ready for February 15! ♥

{2016} Currently Vol. 6

09 February 2016

This comes late because I'm still sick. I've been feeling out of sorts lately because aside from needlessly getting anxious over what my lab test results could be, I'm also stressed out about moving to a new [and farther] office that's a bit more inconvenient to go to. I acknowledge that there are a lot of things beyond my control so I should stop worrying about it. Thanks to my friend Nashe I've decided to go back to meditation and reclaim my balance.

I should find it soon lest I go crazy like Tonks gone rogue
Photo from Ruth's Harry Potter-themed birthday party last Sunday
Here is this week's Currently!

CURRENTLY Vol. 6

READING
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, and yes, it's because of the many times the trailer of the movie adaptation featuring [my love] Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke have been shared more than a dozen times by my Facebook friends. I heard this will make me ugly-cry. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. But it's one that I will most likely lose anyway because I'm one of the biggest cry-babies I know.

WATCHING
Deadpool with my boyfriend tomorrow! I can't wait!

SMELLING
Johnson's Baby Milk Lotion. I got ready for bed before I sat down to type this and I've been properly prepped and moisturized already.

WEARING
My new yellow ballet flats that make me feel positively sunshine-y. It's my new favorite shoes for going to work.

THINKING
Of my lab test results and knowing I can't do anything about it so as I said in the beginning of this post I should just stop, really.

FEELING
Sickly. I wasn't feeling well enough to go to work earlier today but I did because I had to. Too much to do!

LOVING
The Happy Skin Eye Candy gel eye liners sent to me by the Sample Room team as a gift. I can't wait to play with them!

WANTING
To taste coffee and chocolates and tea again. I miss them SO MUCH. :(

NEEDING
To download more meditation apps so I can see which is best for me. Do you have any recommendations?

WISHING
That my heart issues were just brought by stress and do not have any underlying (read: more scary) causes.

Aaand that's it. Time to read another chapter of Me Before You before I sleep. Thank you for sticking around, take care of your hearts. Happy Valentine week! ♥

Be still, my heart.

04 February 2016

I was on sick leave from work today because I needed to go to the doctor.

Towards the end of December last year, I started having this condition wherein my heart seems to suddenly stop and then beats again, hard. It's like it skips a beat and then makes up for it after. It would go away after a couple of hours so I didn't think anything of it and just chalked it down to holiday stress, but it came back and for the past two weeks it started occurring more frequently. Google search results say it's normal and should go away on its own, all I have to do is stop smoking — but I don't smoke and no one in our household does.

I knew I should have it checked but I'm scared I might find out I have a horrible sickness or something so I delayed it as much as I could. But yesterday it went on from morning until I got home at night and I knew I couldn't delay it anymore, thus my absence from work today.

After more than two hours of waiting in The Medical City, it was finally my turn. The doctor found nothing out of the ordinary on routine check-up so she prescribed that I undergo CBC, ECG, and Thyroid Function.

Jasmini kept me company. She was a real trooper and didn't flinch at all when the nurse took a blood sample and when I had the ECG.

It was scary for me because it was the first time I've had to undergo tests like the ECG and Thyroid Function. Even though I've had operations before (a cyst was removed from my left ankle and I had my two impacted wisdom teeth extracted) I've actually never been confined in a hospital. I am underweight but I consider myself fairly okay as far as health is concerned, but that wasn't the case today. My medical bills for those lab tests alone amounted to more than P4,000 so I am grateful it was covered by our company health card. The results will be ready after five working days, and then I need to have the results interpreted by the doctor again.

Please pray with me that it's nothing serious.

In the meantime I am no longer allowed to drink coffee and tea. It's a big sacrifice that I'm willing to take if it would mean my heart would go back to beating normally and there would be no ailments to worry about. I am no longer allowed to eat chocolates. I'm not that big of a choco-holic but I would crave from time to time, but I would gladly say goodbye to it if it would mean I would live a longer life and be able to see more movies, read more books, spend more time with my loved ones —

... and have more fun days like the one I had the other day.

You don't know how scared I am right now. I am a chronic worrier and I feel anxious over the littlest things, but I know I should stop stressing myself too much.

Health is wealth. Take care of your hearts. Literally.

{2016} Currently Vol. 5

01 February 2016

I feel like the year hasn't even started yet and now you're telling me it's already February?

Seriously?

Apparently.

So, it's Valentine season again and it's the first time I'm spending it coupled up after being single for so long so you can say I'm pretty excited. I'm not sure if he's big on cheesy displays of romance on this Hallmark holiday though so I don't really know what to expect, heh. What I do know is that all I want for Valentine's Day is my annual Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tradition —

[...and anything from the MAC x Ellie Goulding collection. DID YOU SEE THOSE COLORS? BEAUTIFUL!]

Right??

Here is this week's Currently!

A new short story. Yes, I started a new one. Wish me luck!

Fijian Water Lotus from The Body Shop. I sprayed it on myself earlier today and the smell still lingers!

My new shoes from Parisian to our event tomorrow! We checked out four SM Stores (North EDSA yesterday and Megamall, Aura, and Makati today) just to see all the new styles from the latest collection and it was so difficult to choose!

I ended up with something though and I'm looking forward to wearing it.

THINKING
Of tomorrow's event.

It's the Penshoppe S/S 2016 Exclusive Launch Party!

Sleepy. It has been a long day and my bed is waiting.
