Cork dork

29 October 2008

I love memo pads and notebooks. I always have a notepad and pen in my bag because you never know when inspiration will strike. It is also important for taking down notes because sometimes it is faster to write it down than type everything in the Notes feature of my phone. And of course it is always handy just in case I happen to see Chito Miranda. Ö

In line with this, let me say that I adore corkboards too. I love that you can post little memos you have to remember, display your wishlists (since you can put it up at 'strategic' locations) and even personalize it by putting snazzy stuff! I have one in my room at home, and I also made one for Athan before.

For the RACK's (name of our apartment which is made up of the first letters of our (tenants) names), I made a corkboard which we put up at the living room so that we can post notes for each other, grocery lists, and etc. I think it is even better than just texting each other. And it's even more personalized. I wanted to put pictures of Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian but R would not let me. Bummer.

So what did I do? I made one that I can put up in my room, of course. Ü

Here is the corkboard I made for my room at the RACK's:

Her name is Pixiedust. She's not yet completely done, though. I still need to add some other stuff to her. Which I will, in the next few days. I'm going to Krissify her hehe.

Now I can ogle at Edward Cullen and Prince Caspian whenever I want to. Ü

Will be back at the RACK's later. Happy Halloween everyone! And advanced happy birthday Jinna! ♥

It has a nice ring to it. don't you think so? :p

I have long been wanting to attend writing workshops but they rarely come by. There was one back in August, a 3 days and 2 nights workshop in Tagaytay held by Ms. Tara Sering, but I was not able to attend it because of self-esteem issues. I haven't written stuff for so long (apart from my blog posts) that I really feel that I've lost my rhythm. I was afraid that if I cannot produce anything halfway decent then the workshop organizers will throw me off the cliff or something haha!

Enough about that, now here is something I am excited about! And it's not about shopping! Ö Thanks to Sis Anagon for blogging about it, I waited for announcements from Powerbooks through their Multiply site for this event. Ü

Details are copied in their entirety from Powerbooks' Calendar of Events.

There is a big chance that I would be able to attend those workshops that will be held at the SM Megamall branch. But I need to apply for Vacation Leaves though, and I believe I am already out of VL credits =/ But my manager is supportive, so I really hope he can pull some strings for me.. Hehe. Meanwhile regarding those that will be held at the Greenbelt branch I have a feeling I will not be able to attend those because it's too far. Besides with my work hours of 6am - 3pm I am sure I would be really flustered by then.

I surely wish Sis Ana and I can attend these workshops. It would be a great way to enhance our skills, remember forgotten lessons, and revive my rhythm that I seem to have lost already. Besides this is an opportunity for us soul sisters to bond. Ü

My Achilles' heel

It's not a secret that I am totally addicted to shopping for clothes, shoes and other what-nots. I have an extensive collection of accessories, books, DVDs and other thingamajigs. I can quote movie lines without batting an eyelash.

But of course no one is perfect. I have an Achilles' heel, too. And that, my friends, is makeup. I swear I am so clueless when it comes to applying makeup! I have the quintessential pressed powder and eyelash curler and I have a fairly extensive collection of lipbalms and lipgloss. I swipe the occasional cheek stain every now and then when I am looking super pale. But for all of the others I am just not a fan. I wear glasses so it is (a little) pointless to apply eyeshadow and mascara. I am a total klutz at applying foundation, concealer and bronzer.

I pore endlessly at my copies of Cosmopolitan and Allure and then try putting on makeup but I just cannot seem to get it right. I am hopeless. Besides, I am just too lazy to do the whole paint-your-face thing. And of course, ten minutes outside and I am sure the effort would be worthless because of the humidity in this country. I am also not big on that whole pamper-me thing. I have never had a facial and I do my own manicure and pedicure. I am very ticklish so massages are no-no for me. I reason, "Wala akong pakialam, basta marami akong sapatos." (I don't care, so long as I have many shoes.)

But I would still want to learn. How to apply makeup that is. Who knows when I am going to need it, right? I would also want to have a big traincase full of yummy colors of tubes and pallettes inside. I want to learn how to apply makeup.

Must. find. makeup. tutorials. online!

9 years to forever

27 October 2008

Friends are so not overrated.

Yesterday was the 9th anniversary of KKK or Kalokohan, Kabaliwan ng 5 Kababaihan. We've been friends since we were in elementary but only on that fateful day of October 26, 1999 did we come up with a name for our clique.

We've been through tears-inducing laugh trips, nosebleed-causing school projects, bonding moments disguised as study sessions, jerks-for-boyfriends, and of course, the quintessential petty fights.

Many things have changed. Now we're too busy to see each other. But one thing still remains. Cliche as it may sound, we're friends, and forever we will be.

I could wear this to my wedding.

22 October 2008

This. This can literally take your breath away.

Anne Hathaway in the Venice premiere of her movie Rachel Getting Married

I love the cascading layers, the ruffles and the flowers. The colors blue, green and gray are also mixed and blended together in a very nice way. The gold shoes and accessories added the perfect finish to the gown.

I loved Anne in her movies Princess Diaries (both the first and second), The Devil Wears Prada and Get Smart. I think she is very beautiful. Just look at those eyes. And smile. And body. And the way she carries herself. She's a classic beauty. And a talented actress at that as well.

Can life get any more unfair? Ö

Someone help me control my shopping! But then again, I hope no one will.

21 October 2008

New shopping loot!

Havaianas Slim Chitao Amarelo Banana

I got this from Sis Beth. It was actually first released in blue but I did not like it that much. But when I saw this, whoah, I just HAD to have it. And now I do. Yay for me! Ü

And won't you just look at this cuff I got from Sis Clarise:

Twirl cuff from Get Holly's September 2008 collection

It goes perfectly with the Slim Chitao! Together they add extra oomph and fab factor to an otherwise too simple white top and jeans combo. Nice!

And from Tita Mac and Kaye, I got these:

Havaianas LE Saks 5th Ave - Trish McEvoy

and

IceBreakers lipbalms
Hershey's/ Reese and Watermelon/ Pink Lemonade

And, I totally was not expecting this, but Tita Mac also sent me these:

Lipgloss/ eyeshadow palette and Maybelline Cool Effects Eyeshadow

I ordered a handcuff necklace for my office mate from them before, and shortly after that I celebrated my birthday. Tita Mac messaged me to ask which would I like, discount or gift, and I chose gift. And then I totally forgot all about it since that was way back in April, so I was really surprised when I saw these in the package, with a card! They're so sweet! Oh wow thanks so much! Ü

Shucks, I have succumbed to my vice once more. But no one's complaining! Everybody wins ;)

The purple one is better than the pink one, right?

I am planning on getting myself a new phone to replace the cheap one I'm using whose uses are limited to sending SMS and calling. I cannot even take a decent photo using its camera. I preferred a cheap phone after the trauma of last year when I lost two phones in just a span of two months. Talk about bad, rotten luck to the second power. But now I believe that we should let bygones be bygones, so hell yeah I'm getting myself a new phone! Ö

A few months ago I posted in my defunct blog that I would want a Nokia 7210 Supernova. I think its so pretty and it suits me because of its pink color and my adherence to the pink phone conspiracy. Just look at that:

Nokia 7210 Supernova in bubblegum pink
(also available in electric blue)

But while checking eBay I chanced upon a listing for a Nokia 3120 classic and was impressed by its sleek appearance:

Nokia 3120 classic in purple
(also available in graphite, powder white, deep red, and chestnut brown)

When I looked up the features of this phone, I found out that its basically the same, but with the added 3G feature. I'm loving this one more because it looks more "mature" if you get what I mean.

This is how the back looks like:

Nokia 3120 classic in deep red

I love the color, so rich and regal though I'm leaning towards the purple one more.

But even with their cool features, the prices are still very affordable! They don't cost more than 7,000php each so that's very good for my wallet since I still have other presents-for-myself to consider *wink*

I think I've already decided. Nokia 3120 classic in purple, I'll be getting you before Christmas!

And yes, I am a Nokia girl by heart. I did not even consider getting other mobile phone brands. Ü

Planning the year the chic way

20 October 2008

Oh boy, time really flies fast when you're having fun! It feels like only yesterday when I welcomed 2008 and before I realized what's happening we're already on the last quarter of the year! And of course, a new year signals new beginnings (and new belongings ;)). It is now time to scout for that perfect planner.

For girls who would not want those old boring plain planners, Miss Darlyn Ty and company has the perfect solution: the Belle de Jour power planner.

Highlights of this year's planner are the 60 coupons (that's a lot!) from different stores, a notepad/ coupon holder, a dream board and health check list and their staples menstrual tracker, vacation planner and monthly articles dedicated to the modern Filipina.

I had the 2007 and 2008 planners as well and I absolutely loved them so of course I would not let this year end without having one for 2009. I had my copy reserved last week by filling out the order form on BDJ's site. SRP is at 598php and if you ordered before October 30, 2008 you'll get 5% discount AND free shipping. The planners will be available on the 2nd week of November. I'm so excited to get mine!

This is indeed a sure-fire way to chic-ify your year ;)

quick quotes.2

19 October 2008

The ability to show love must always be part of the equation.
Technology has not crossed that barrier.
The day love dies will be the virtual end of the world.

quick quotes.1

18 October 2008

A thousand pair of eyes may speak of overwhelming admiration over you and sometimes it could be flattering. Sometimes, it draws a smile on your face. But at the end of the day, no matter how many people express such adoration, you'd still want to be with that person who doesn't only see you as someone to be praised, but someone who, despite seeing your weaknesses, still embraces and kisses you, and shares your laughters and pains.

6 billion people and sometimes, all you need is one.

Of teeth and rice

17 October 2008

Yesterday Mich, Watcher and I went to Dentacare to use our company health plans and have our teeth cleaned. The dentist was nice; he does not look like a dentist at all, more like a rockstar. Ö

After that we then went to SM Fairview. It was actually only my 2nd visit to the said mall, the first was when we were still in college. The Sinister Sisters were staying over at Recks' house and we needed to go to Copytrade to have our survey photocopied. So anyway, going back to yesterday's events, it was fun! Watcher treated Mich and I to dinner, and he even gave me and my housemates money to buy a rice cooker! Yay! No more cup noodles! I'll eat rice for dinner again!

So basically this post is just to say thanks to Watcher, from the bottom of my pink, glittering heart. Hehe. Love ya friend! Ü

Saving Mother Earth one bag at a time

14 October 2008

I was net-surfing when I chanced upon MamaEarth and I fell in love with their canvas bags straightaway! Following in the footsteps of the widely-accepted trend set by Anya Hindmarch's "I'm not a Plastic Bag", MamaEarth aims to do their share for Mother Earth and lessen the need for plastic bags. And who needs plastic bags when shopping when you can use these?

I ♥ MY MOTHER EARTH, MOTHER PACKER and HONOR THY MOTHER canvas bags

I specially like the one in the middle, so funny and witty Ö

Here is the description of the bags as posted in their site:

These babies are made of heavy duty canvas that will withstand even your most rigorous shopping jaunts and carry your heftiest load of groceries!
Despite their heavy duty nature, our canvas bags are lightweight and easy to tote...
just fold it up and secure with the closure ties attached.

Don’t you think you’ll look so much more fetching
toting this instead of a plastic bag? ;)

At their introductory price of only 95php each or 270php for 3 bags, these are surely a steal and would make great Christmas stockings-fillers!

I think I already know what to give Mommy Terry, Mommy Tin and Mommy Sasha for their birthdays. And of course I would buy one for myself as well since I need a big bag for everytime I go home to Navotas during my off days. Ü

Save Mother Earth, recycle and reuse!

*pictures grabbed from MamaEarth's site. click here to see more designs and for details on how to order.

Okay, okay. I give up.

13 October 2008

I have succumbed to temptation. I cannot take this anymore. I have tried to get you off my mind but I can't. You keep on coming back, luring me, calling me. Oh how you taunt me so, sweet torture! I give up. You win. I am going to get you, Havaianas Fit! And maybe you too, Havaianas Jelly!

Now I just have to decide which color/s to get...

Argh! They're all so gorgeous! I am torn between red, pink and purple. Rarr.

And just look at these jellies:

I want purple, pink and lake green! I want I want I want!

They are now available for pre-order from various Multiply sites. Fit is being offered at a relatively low price range of 900 - 1095php while the Jelly costs 900 - 995php per pair.

So... what color/s will I get? Argh!

This is what I want for Christmas!

08 October 2008

Let the photo speak for itself...

Isn't she gorgeous?

A new camera! And it's pink! (Hmm, the pink gadget conspiracy has invaded cameras, indeed! ) It's the new Canon Powershot E1 my friends, which boasts of a 10.0 megapixel capture capacity, 4x digital zoom, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. And it's relatively cheap at a price of 13,500php considering its 10.0 mp capture capacity.

Lookie! It also comes in
white

and
blue

The colors are so yummy! I SO FREAKIN' WANT THE PINK ONE! Well, Christmas is just around the corner anyway, and I am so getting myself one of these. Ü
